This is a picture of my now-sixteen-year-old son and his dad at Christmas time in 1991. This was Josh's preferred method of teething--chewing on his daddy's finger (is this disgusting or what--but wait, it gets better!):

Yes, there is another funny (well, funny now) Joshua story to go with this memory. We went over to Aunt Shell's apartment (my sister-in-law) to unwrap our Christmas presents and the "boys" were wearing their Christmas sweaters. Josh had his own little special basket of toys at his aunt's and he was, for once, quietly playing with those, allowing the adults to talk.
I went to check on my small son and was horrified to see him crawling toward us (he was 10 months old and not walking yet) with tears streaming down his cheeks and a GOLF BALL stuck in his mouth! I shouted for Dan and his daddy grabbed the poor baby's cheeks and popped that ball right out. And then with a deep breath Josh let out the howl that had been stuck in his throat for who knows how long!
Of course I was distressed because HE COULD HAVE DIED! Needless to say, there were three adults crawling around the apartment for the next 15 minutes or so hunting out any other cat toys that would be potentially lethal to small toddlers. |

They sure grow fast! one day they are teething, then you are celebrating their 16th birthday...
