Lake Clean Up and a Swim Party

Today's outings consisted of a Girl Scout service project and a church youth group swim party.  We started off the morning with a yummy breakfast of Toaster Strudels.  Or the girls did.  I kind of forgot to eat.  I realized that as we headed out of the subdivision.  Luckily the QT (gas station) where we topped off the gas tank sold fruit, so I had an apple and a handful of trail mix for breakfast.

As usual, I underestimated the whole traffic thing and so we wound up being 25 minutes late for the service project.  We did eventually get there (took an hour and a half instead of an hour) and proceeded to pick up trash from the exposed lake bed.  I guess there is something to be said for a major drought--the lake will be cleaner than before if it ever fills up again!

Rebecca found an upopened can of soda and when she dropped it onto the dock it exploded and sprayed poor Elizabeth.  Needless to say she did not find it amusing (Elizabeth that is, Rebecca thought it was hilarious).  We also found a cell phone and a credit card.  In two hours we managed to half fill a dumpster.

After all that work we had McDonald's for lunch.  I was craving french fries.  To offset the badness of the fries I also had a salad.  And a sundae.  I didn't eat anything healthy to offset the badness of the sundae.  I just thoroughly enjoyed it!

This evening the girls had a really super time with their youth group at the home of one of the leaders.  They have a beautiful swimming pool and the kids had a blast.  Elizabeth managed to win the belly flop contest.  That girl has real talent I tell you.  Her prize was a Twix bar which she devoured WITHOUT sharing.

I can just picture the older sis drenched and sticky while the younger sis laughs her head off.... No wonder Big Sis didn't share the candy bar with anyone!
