Rebecca ages out of FLL (First Lego League) this year, but luckily her coach is starting an FTC (First Tech Challenge) team, so she is all agog to get started.
This afternoon we went to the Georgia FTC Championship at Southern Polytech State University and got our first taste of the higher level of competition. Wow! You have to be a good team player because every match has new alliances and new opponents and you have to be flexible enough to work in tandem with everybody The robots were really cool, too.
This one generated a lot of excitement! These young men from Tennessee had a unique conveyor belt that could spit out the hockey pucks.

Of course, there was plenty of down time to enjoy a good read as well. Actually, the three hours that we were there was pretty much a hurry up and wait kind of experience, perfect for enjoying a good book. I should have been so prepared!

I wish this would have been around when my children were younger. Rebecca has gotten so much out of participating in FLL, I'm sure Josh and Elizabeth would have enjoyed it just as much. Especially Josh. |
