• Jan. 28, 2009 - Tea Time

I just wanted to share with you that you should take time and enjoy a new cup of tea. I found a wonderful one at London Apothacary, you can find her at ETSY.com. Hmmmm is is so warm and fragrant, it is called Winter Wonderland. Very appropriate, as today we receive 3 inches of diamond glistening snow. It has left our hill covered with podwer sugar, truly a winter wonderland. God is so creative, I think HE is showing off a little today, makes me smile in wonder!

Blessings on your day and grab a cup of warm tea and enjoy God's creativity!

• Apr. 14, 2007 - A very good alternative recipe for CHEESE...no milk..

Soft Cheese Recipe (non-milk)

Here is the cheese recipe I promised to write out for you. This is the one I use on pizzas and it is so economical and delicious! There is NO MILK in this recipe!

I cup unsalted cashew pieces
1 cup water
1 cup of firm tofu (organic nonGMO)
2 T of nutritional yeast flakes
1 t salt
1 T apple cider vinegar or lemon juice

Place all of this in the blender and blend till smooth. Store in a glass quart jar in the refrigerator till needed. When putting this on a pizza the trick it to put about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of the cheese in a plastic bag. Hold the bag closed like you are going to decorate a cake and snip a TINY bit of the corner off. Now just drizzle the cheese across the top of your pizza. Bake as you usually would your pizza and no one will even know this is not mozzerella cheese.

To make a orange colored cheese.....just added 1/2 of a roasted red bell pepper and whiz with the cheese mixture. This will taste some what like pimento cheese, it is great to use on top of the pizza too. I like to use some of the white and then prepare another baggie with a little of the orange cheese, this looks very pretty and it taste GOOD TOO! This orange soft cheese makes a wonderful sauce for your noodles or to use over steamed veggies.

ENJOY this is a good one!

• Apr. 26, 2006 - Daddy Is Driving!

Daddy Is Driving

While a man and his family were in Europe, there was a time when they needed to drive three days continuously, day and night, to get to Germany. So, they all got into the car -- he, his wife, and his 3-year-old daughter.

The little girl had never traveled at night before and, with deep darkness all around, she was frightened the first night in the car.

"Where are we going, Daddy?"

"To your Uncle's house, in Germany."

"Have you been to his house before?"

"No."

"Then, how do you know the way?"

"Maybe, we can read the map."

[Short pause] "Do you know how to read the map?"

"Yes, we will get there safely."

[Another pause] "Where are we going to eat if we get hungry on the way?"

"We will stop at restaurants."

"Do you know if there are restaurants on the way?"

"Yes, there are."

"Do you know where?"

"No, but we will be able to find some."

The same dialogue repeated a few times within the first night, and also the second night.

But on the third night, the little girl was quiet.

Her mother thought that she might have fallen asleep, but looking back, saw that she was awake and calmly looking around. They couldn't help wondering why she had stopped asking questions.

"Dear, do you know where we are going?" the mother asked.

"Germany, Uncle's house."

"Do you know how we are getting there?"

"No."

"Then why aren't you asking anymore?"

"Because Daddy is driving."

Because Daddy is driving. This answer from a 3-year-old girl has then become the strength and help for the many years to follow whenever there are questions and fears on this journey with the Lord.

Yes, our Father is driving.

We may know the destination (and sometimes we may just know it like the little girl -- "Germany" -- without understanding where or what it really is). We do not know the way, we do not know how to read the map, we do not know if we can find restaurants along the way.

But the little girl knew the most important thing -- Daddy is driving -- and so she is safe and secure. She knows that her Daddy will provide all that she needs.

Do you know your Daddy, the Great Shepherd, is driving today?  What are your behavior and response as a passenger, His child?

You may have asked many questions before, but can you, like the little girl, start to realize the most important focus should be "Daddy is driving?"

Pass this inspiration on...

Psalm 9:10 And those who know Your name will put their trust in You; For You, LORD, have not forsaken those who seek You.

Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

• Jan. 12, 2006 - A Free online book....A MUST READ!!!

Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment

Author: Jeremiah Burroughs

This book was first published in the 1600's.

Click on the below link to read the entire book online.

I LOVE this book!

Be Blessed!!

`I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content.'
Philippians 4:11
This text contains a very timely cordial to revive the drooping spirits of
the saints in these sad and sinking time. For the `hour of temptation' has
already come upon all the world to try the inhabitants of the earth. In
particular, this is the day of Jacob's trouble in our own bowels.
Our great Apostle holds forth experimentally in this Gospel-text the very
life and soul of all practical divinity. In it we may plainly read his own
proficiency in the school of Christ, and what lesson every Christian who
would prove the power and growth of godliness in his own soul must
necessarily learn from him.

• Jul. 29, 2005 - Simple Solutions.........

I received this from a dear friend. I thought this is worth sharing. I know my sister-in-law has used Bounce, to keep mosquitoes away for the past few years. She says it works GREAT!

Who would have thought? What a simple solution!

Below is the forward:

My mail carrier told me that the US Postal service sent out a message to
all letter carriers to put a sheet of Bounce in their uniform pockets to
keep yellow jackets away.

 Use them all the time when playing baseball and soccer. I use it when I
am working outside. It really works. The yellow jackets just veer around
 you. And all this time you've just been putting Bounce in the dryer!

 It will chase ants away when you lay a sheet near them.

 It also repels mice. Spread them around foundation areas, or in
 trailers, cars that are sitting and it keeps mice from entering your
vehicle.

 It takes the odor out of books and photo albums that don't get opened
 too often.

 Repels mosquitoes. Tie a sheet of Bounce through a belt loop when
 outdoors during mosquito season.

 Eliminates static electricity from your television (or computer) screen.
 Since Bounce is designed to help eliminate static cling, wipe your
 television screen with a used sheet of Bounce to keep dust from
 resettling.

 Dissolve soap scum from shower doors. Clean with a sheet of Bounce.

 Freshen the air in your home. Place an individual sheet of Bounce in a
 drawer or hang in the closet.

 Put Bounce sheet in vacuum cleaner.

Prevent thread from tangling. Run a threaded needle through sheet of
 Bounce before beginning to sew.

 Prevent musty suitcases. Place an individual sheet of Bounce inside
 empty luggage before storing.

 Freshen the air in your car. Place a sheet of Bounce under the front
 seat.

 Clean baked-on foods from a cooking pan. Put a sheet in a pan, fill with
 water, let sit overnight, and sponge clean. The antistatic agent
 apparently weakens the bond between the food.

 Eliminate odors in wastebaskets. Place a sheet of Bounce at the bottom
 of the wastebasket.

 Collect cat hair. Rubbing the area with a sheet of Bounce will
 magnetically attract all the loose hairs.

 Eliminate static electricity from Venetian blinds. Wipe the blinds with
a sheet of Bounce to prevent dust from resettling.

 Wipe up sawdust from drilling or sand papering. A used sheet of Bounce
 will collect sawdust like a tack cloth.

 Eliminate odors in dirty laundry. Place an individual sheet of Bounce at
 the bottom of a laundry bag or hamper.

 Deodorize shoes or sneakers. Place a sheet of Bounce in your shoes or
 sneakers overnight.

 Golfers put a Bounce sheet in their back pocket to keep the bees away.

Put a Bounce sheet in your sleeping bag and tent before folding and
 storing them. Keeps them smelling fresh.

Let me know if any of you all have tried any of these. I am interested how they have worked for you and your family. I am excited to hear from you all!!!

Blessings!!

Lyn

• Jul. 27, 2005 - Home--SWEET--Home

This is a sweet poem from years gone by. There is so much truth to it! We are truly blessed to have home and family, in which to share HOME with! We that have enjoyed the benefits of homeschooling have an even richer, more indepth understanding, of  this truth of Home! I am so thankful that God called us to homeschool, the blessings have been beyond our wildest imagination. Isn't just the way of the LORD?

Enjoy and be Blessed by God's blessings of Home.

Lyn

“ Home’s not merely four square walls,

       Through with pictures hung and gilded:

Home is where affections calls,

       Filled with shrines the heart hath builded!

Home! Go watch the faithful dove,

       Sailing ‘neath the heaven above us;

Home is where there’s one to love us!

Home’s not merely roof and room,

      It needs something to endear it;

Home is where the heart can bloom,

      Where there’s some kind lip to cheer it!

Where is home with none to meet,

      None to welcome, none to greet?

Home is sweet, --and only sweet, --

     Where there’s one we love to meet us!”

• Jul. 27, 2005 - The Farmer's Wife...........

Are you thankful for the walls you have to wash, toilets that have to be cleaned, floors which should be swept, and laundry which needs to be hung on the line? Each of these chores has a lesson for us, if we just look. All we have to do is seek the Lord and ask for his wisdom, and the most dreary job can become  joyous! Let us be thankful, not only for the great things, but also the small blessings and a home to serve our family in!

                  And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the
                    Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.

Colossians 3:17

This is a poem we found in one of our old books from the 1800’s. We have republished it on our ministry's website www.titus2ministry.com  I thought perhaps you may enjoy reading it here on my blog. It speaks much to our heart, to be thankful in all things!

Blessings on your home and family, Lyn

                                             The Farmer's Wife

The farmer came in from the field one day;
His languid step and his weary way,
His bent brow, his sinewy hand,
All showed his work for the good of the land;
For he sows,
And he hoes,
And he mows,
All for the good of the land.

By the kitchen fire stood his patient wife,
Light of his home and joy of his life,
With face all aglow and busy hand,
Preparing the meal for her husband's band.
For she must boil,
And she must broil,
And she must toil,
All for the good of the home.

The bright sun shines when the farmer goes out,
The birds sing sweet songs, lambs frisk about;
The brook babbles softly in the glen,
While he works so bravely for the good of men:
For he sows,
And he mows,
And he hoes,
All for the good of the land.

How briskly the wife steps about within,
The dishes to wash, the milk to skim;
The fire goes out, flies buzz about--
For the dear ones at home her heart is kept stout;
There are pies to make,
There is bread to bake,
And steps to take,
All for the sake of the home.

                           When the day is o'er, and the evening is come,
The creatures are fed, the milking done,
He takes his rest 'neath the old shade tree,
From the labor of the land his thoughts are free;
Though he sows,
And he hoes,
And he mows,
He rests from the work of the land.

But the faithful wife, from sun to sun,
Takes her burden up that's never done;
There is no rest, there is no play,
For the good of the house she must work away;
For to mend the frock,,
And to knit the sock,
And the cradle to rock,
All for the good of the home.

When autumn is here, with its chilling blast,
The farmer gathers his crop at last;
His barns are full, his fields are bare,
 For the good of the land he ne'er hath care,
While it blows,
And it snows,
Till winter goes,
He rests from the work of the land.

But the willing wife, till life's closing day,
Is the children's guide, the husband's stay;
From day to day she has done her best,
Until death alone can give her rest;
For after the test
Comes the rest,
With the blest,
In the farmer's heavenly home.

• Jul. 26, 2005 - A Few More Summer Ideas, these are for the HOT DAYS!

Here is a list of some ideas, for those hot, HOT days of summer. Staying cool is number one priority, and keeping hydrated. Sometimes this can be a real chore, keeping the children happy, below are a few ideas that have worked wonders for us!…………….

An Indoor Scavenger Hunt………………

(on terrible hot days)  Make your clues up and hide them about the house. One way to get a few simple chores done is to include a chore in the hunt clues. Then at the end of the hunt a fun prize will be waiting. It can be what ever your children like. Think outside the box and have some fun; while getting a few chores done at the same time.

Scrapbooking………………..

On a hot summer afternoon this is a terrific time to scrapbook. What a wonderful treasure these make for years to come. Wow! Are there some fun papers, stickers, pens and the like now days. A quick trip to the local craft store and your set for many hours of fun memory making!

Make and Enjoy, A Treasure Hunt……………

This is fun for the older children to make for the younger ones to enjoy. Take a flat box (like a shoe box lid) and gather pretty stones and coins and treasures. Mix plaster of Paris and stir in the treasures. Pour this mix in a plastic wrap lined box and let it dry. Then after it is very hard, remove from the box and peel off the plastic wrap. Now, the fun can begin for the little ones. By using a metal nail file they can start to unearth the treasures. This is a real good way to implement counting money and identifying stones. This also makes a nice gift! Have fun!

Write A Book…………..

This is a real fun way to keep a memory of the summer! Pull out all the fun crayons, stickers and fancy scissors, pens and pencils and look out! You will be amazed what the children will do and come up with. They will express them selves in a marvelous way, through the gift of book making. I really like Cindy Rushtons book, HOMEMADE BOOKS! YES! YOU CAN BE A WRITER TOO!. Visit her site and get some ideas at www.cindyrushton.com I love the e-book you can get it right away and be using it the same day. The wonders of computer, what help!

The Indoor Picnic………

In one of my earlier post I share about the indoor picnic. This is a real winner for families! This simple thought has added many wonder memories to my life, from a child on up! Try it for yourself and see!

Read A Book, OUTLOUD, to the kids………………

There is nothing like reading a good book! Pick one that has adventure and a colorful writing style. Emilee loved the Elsie series, by Martha Finley. We would get a big glass of water and sit and read the afternoons away many days when it was hot. Although I must admit, we read many a cold winter afternoons away too. Only accompanied by multiple cups of hot tea. What fun it is sharing a good book. We would come back time and time again to see what Elsie was up to next. I really do suggest a series, which is even more fun!

ENJOY!!

God Bless and stay cool! It has been up in the 100’s area for days now here in Central Missouri. We sure would appreciate prays for rain and cool temps!!

Till Next time......

Lyn
