1. Youre a homeschool mom. You need a magazine written especially for you. Look in the Summer issue for tips on homeschooling with a preschooler in the house and engaging them in fun learning activities, dealing with a child who wont sit still or special needs children.
2. Educating your children is your thing. Its like a professional journal for homeschoolers full of valuable information curriculum reviews, trends and issues. In the Summer issue, you can read Passport Learning, which describes a method that can help your child gain 2.5 grade levels in 25 hours of training.
3. It makes a great impression on friends and family for homeschooling. They can see first hand all of the excellent methods, options and opportunities available for homeschoolers. They may not realize that homeschooling is going on all over the world.
4. It will encourage you with stories from other homeschoolers. You can read about the Pak family and their Homeschool in the Woods, the Johnson family who accidentally started homeschooling when their daughter asked to learn to read at age 3 and the Blairs with their Charlotte Mason style among others.
5. It will help you to remember that youre not alone. Check out Jenefers Igarashis article called, Spotting a Fellow Stranger. You might realize like I did that others deal with feeling like an outsider even among other Christians.
6. It will inspire you to be the best wife, mother and teacher that you can be. While none of us are perfect and this isnt a magazine that tries to stereotype all homeschoolers, it will encourage you with fresh insights and examples from others on this homeschool journey with us.
7. Awesome interviews! Have you heard about Akiane Kramarik, the ten-year old homeschooler whose paintings are selling for over $50,000? Look for it in the Summer issue and let your kids read it too.
8. The Natural Schoolhouse column that will highlight natural or organic products, their uses and recommendations from experts. The Basic Medicine Cabinet listed 14 basic products to keep on hand at home. Ive been looking for a list like that for a long time.
9. Its well worth the money. My copies of The Old Schoolhouse are dog eared from marking the articles that I want to share with my friends. I love the product reviews and ads. Its like browsing the vendor hall at a homeschool conference and with their bouquet of gifts, now is the time to get your subscription. With a 2 year subscription (only $39.00), you get 19 gifts valued at almost $300 no strings attached, you dont even have to pay shipping. Its so nice to have those freebies show up in the mail. : )
10. Its a fresh and contemporary look at homeschooling. Homeschoolers are a diverse group and theres something in here for everyone. The Summer issue announced our HomeschoolBlogger website. Youll want to read it, including the Dos and Donts of Blogging by Spunky Jr. If you love this community at HomeSchoolBlogger, youre going to love the magazine as well.
