Lessons Learned on the Farm

• Sep. 9, 2005 - A Verse for My Family

Have you ever felt like you're right on the tip of God doing something and just waiting for it to happen?  Wondering if you're supposed to be "doing" something to make it happen or wondering if it's a time just to be still and wait on the LORD?

God opened such a door for our family with this farm.  He has given us a vision of all that it could be, but yet we also get discouraged because we have so much to learn.  I tend to find myself wanting to know the nitty-gritty of how people decided to take the "first step" with new businesses.  How did they research all of the financial aspects?  How did they get the backing?  How did they do it all while still working another job?

I have only shared our dreams with our closest friends.  It almost feels too vulnerable to share something that means so much to me, but yet I treasure my friends' prayers and encouragement.  Today I opened my email and a friend had prayed a wonderful scripture for my family.

All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the LORD your God:  You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country.  The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock - the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks.  Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed.  You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out.  The LORD will grant that the emenies who rise up against you will be defeated before you.  They will come at you from one direction, but flee from you in seven.  The LORD will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to.  The LORD your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.  Deuteronomy 28: 2-8

That verse is just so perfect for our family.  The whole thing about being blessed in the city AND in the country and that part about Him sending a blessing on our barns and everything we put our hands to. Ooohh, it is just precious because we truly do believe that this is the land He gave us and we just want to obey Him and use it for His purposes.  What a wonderful scripture.  God's Word is so encouraging.  I'm amazed at how He has something in there for each of us no matter what we are going through.  Thank you LORD for your word... and for kind friends who pray for us and send those special scriptures our way.

Isn't it great how God can speak straight to us through something that was written thousands of years ago. I believe it is all part of his plan and one of his miracles.

what a great post. and it is encouraging to me. I like how you said that "God is in the city and God is in the country"; i've been trying to hold onto that --- you know how unsettling it is to jump into something so utterly brand new. your great attitude is encouraging.
