• Nov. 18, 2006 - Personalized Memory Game
I always love to do a homemade gift for someone if I can, so I was really excited when I saw THIS entry on Jennie's blog about making personalized memory games just in time for our friend, Matthew's 2nd birthday!
He loves to look at pictures and absolutely loves naming people off one-by-one so I thought he'd get a big kick out of this. (He's also one pretty smart little guy too so I figured he'd really get into the matching part too!)
Anyway, it was a pretty quick and easy project. There was a fair amount of trial and error involved for the girl at Office Max who helped me get them printed and laminated, but the whole process will go much more quickly when I do another set.
Here's what I did:
- I cropped out each individual face from photos that I already had and tried to get each one about 2 x 2 using Photoshop.
- I put all of them into a Word doc and then burned that onto a CD and took it to Office Max.
- They used Publisher's business card template to fit 8 cards to a page.
- I picked out the balloon graphic for them to put on the back of each.
- They printed them front & back on cardstock and then we trimmed each card to get the square size that I wanted.
- Then she laminated them with this really thick laminating film. They are stiff like a driver's license now!
- We cut the squares again.
- Placed them into a little clear box that usually holds tacks. They were a perfect fit! If I had more cards, I probably would have used an old check box. Hopefully someday I'll be able to get pictures of Matthew's extended family to add to the game.
