Well I told my boys that I wanted THEM to blog about 5 things they are thankful for, but then my oldest wanted to make sure that I participated too, so he tagged me. That's alright though, I so appreciate the attitude of gratitude and I know that counting my blessings always helps me keep my focus on the things that I should be grateful for, rather than the things that frustrate or upset me.
I saw a quote in Reader's Digest once that said (something like):
If you are thankful for what you have, it will always be enough. If you focus on what you don't have, you will never have enough.
So here goes my list of 5...
- I am thankful for God's grace and that His mercies are new everyday. For his unconditional love and faithfulness. For the hope he gives each of us.
- I am thankful for my family. For a husband who has learned to enjoy all of the animals that bring me so much joy. For a 14 year old who leans down to give me a kiss on the head or hug when he knows I need it. For a 10 year old that delights in teaching his younger brother during their Bible study each night. And for a 5 year old that loves with the same intensity that he puts towards being stubborn sometimes!
- I am thankful for what God has done in our lives. For transforming us from a far-too-busy family to one that has plenty of time with each other and time for others.
- I am thankful for dear friends who love me as I am and who will really be themselves with me as well.
- I am thankful for the internet, email, and blogging. They all make the world a smaller place and keeping in touch with others so much easier.
How about you? If you decide to blog about what you are thankful for, please leave me a comment.
Happy Thanksgiving, Nancy
