Yesterday Tony and the boys went to see Narnia with my local support group. They returned home busting at the seams to tell me ALL about it. They absolutely loved it.
Then last night I received an email from a blogger friend with a prayer request for 2 homeschool families whose children were involved in a serious car crash on their way to a Narnia party at one's house after seeing the movie. One daughter was killed while the two others are in critical condition.
Here's the story from a news website:
2 crash victims remain critical
Two girls who were severely injured in a deadly Forest Lake car crash Friday remained in critical condition Tuesday.
Bethany Pearson, 16, of Wyoming, Minn., is at Gillette Children's Hospital in St. Paul.
Angie Carlson, 14, of Hugo is at North Memorial Medical Center in Robbinsdale.
Both girls suffered serious head injuries in the crash, which killed Pearson's 14-year-old sister, Hannah. All three were wearing seat belts.
The three were returning from a church outing when Bethany lost control of her Ford Probe at U.S. 61 and Scandia Trail.
The car spun out and was struck by a pickup. The pickup driver was not hurt.
I can not imagine what these families must be going through. Please lift up the Pearson and Carlson families in your prayers as the LORD prompts you. They are both strong Christian homeschooling families. They even have CaringBridge sites set up so that they can share the progress with others.
Here is what the Pearson's had to say on their site - Friday, December 9, in the evening, Bethany, Hannah, and Angie were returning from watching the movie Narnia in Forest Lake. Their vehicle was T-Boned at an intersection. All three girls were airlifted to area hospitals. Bethany and Hannah went to Regions/Gillette Children's and Angie went to North Memorial. Our Princess Hannah, our precious 14 year old was called home early so she could sing with the angels and love on all the kids who are already sitting at Jesus' feet.
I noticed that they've scheduled visitation for Hannah on Thursday and her funeral on Friday so please remember to pray for them specifically then. They also posted an update on Bethany today - Wednesday, December 14,2005 -
Wow,what what a start to the morning. We were blessed to be able to spend the night at a friends house just off Grand Ave. in St Paul and woke up to beautiful white snow. How beautiful everything looks today.
Bethany...They continue to take away her medications. She is now only on one pain med and IV fluids. Last night, in addition to takng out her head drain, they took out her chest tube. She is more susseptable to irratation and noise but she is doing remarkably well. Last night I specifically asked for prayer concerning Beths eyes. I was with Dr. Nelson this morning when she opened her eyelids and shined the little light into it. Her left pupil is still nonreactive BUT she did move her head to the side as if to say, "get this light out of my eye." Dr Nelson said, "that's encouraging." Her right pupil is still reacting to light and reacts normally. I can truely tell you all that I now know what tears of joy are all about!
Your prayers, again, are being answered. We are continuing to praise God for the blessings that he continually is showernig on our family.
With Love, Bruce
Here is the story from Angie's parents on their site as well -
Angie and her two friends were returning from the movie Chronicles of Narnia in Forest Lake and heading to her parents house for an after movie party with her school and church friends.Angie was so excited about the movie that her mom and her sewed a cape/costume just to wear to the movie.
Angie was a passenger in the front seat where the small pick up truck struck Angie full force.
Angie was trapped in the car for 25 minutes while Paramedics used the "Jaws of Life to free her.The 3 girls were airlifted to area hospitals; Angie to North Memorial, and Bethany and Hannah to Regions/Gillette Children's.
Upon arrival, she underwent CAT scans and emergency surgery to repair various internal injuries. She is having surgery Saturday morning to releive pressure on her brain from swelling.
Angie sustained a severe head injury, a broken pelvis, collapsed lungs (2), broken femur, badly bruised liver, and other internal organ injury. She is on a ventilator until she can breath on her own.
Angie is slowly recovering in the Trauma/Intensive Care unit. She sufferd a severe head injury, and other multible injuries. We are encouraged by her daily progress, but it definitely going to be a long road through the woods of recovery and rehab.
We are confident that these 3 girls are in God's total hands. Their faith and trust in Jesus Christ is a testimony to us all. Angie has had a number of trials in her life that seemed large to us at the time where she has seen God's handiwork and grown in her faith, often telling us how God is working. We know that this is helping her in this trial as we can sense her trust in God when we share with her about her progress and about all of you who are praying for her.
And here is the update that they posted last night- Tuesday, December 13,2005 -
Evening Update:
Angie is scheduled for surgery of her femur tommorrow around 2PM.
Prayer request: That with all the stress she is under with the healing of her head injury and other issues, that the surgery goes well.
All 3 physcians are in agreement that she is ready for surgery and we are happy that this is proceding. A rod will be insertd down through the center of the bone with pins, which is the most desired procedure.
The doctor told us today that the pressure on the brain is low.
Please be in prayer for the Pearson family as they are completing arrangements for the visitation and funeral Thursday and Friday. Refer to bethanyp web site.

If you have a chance, go to their sites and let them know that you are praying for them. And hug your kids.
Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you are doing.
