Well, I really appreciate all of your responses about Hank. It was so good to hear so many different opinions and to just know that other people understand our dilemma.
Through some divine interevention, Hank is still with us. Tony would have taken him to the animal shelter on Saturday, but fortunately they were closed for the holidays. Thus a good pal offered to let him stay at her house for awhile until we could find a new home for him. However, she lives in town with a fenced yard and all of that change just freaked Hank the Cowardly Dog out. He kept jumping her fence! He wouldn't go anywhere, but he would just be laying on their side step whenever they got home. Sooo they knew that things weren't going to work out there.
We brought Hank back home and continued discussing our options. All of us were pleased when Tony decided that we could just keep Hank. We will do our best to keep Hank inside most of the time and in our yard under close watch when he is outside. We want to have peace with our neighbor, but realized that he was being unreasonable and that we had to establish some boundaries with him. Sooo... Hank is happy and we are happy!
Now during all of this, we also found a dog just like we had been wanting for a year in our local paper. Her name is Mary Jane (get it like Mary Jane's Farm....I just knew that she was meant to be ours!). She is an 11 month old English Mastiff. She is a huge lovable oaff. She is already housetrained and knows some basic obedience so it's like we custom ordered her. Our digital camera recently died, so I don't have any pics of her yet. But they'll be on the blog ASAP!
Thanks again for all of your encouragement. |
