Apr. 15, 2009 - Why can't I relax?
I felt the call to homeschool long before I ever had children. I knew that I would homeschool our future children and our plan has been to homeschool for as long as the Lord allows us to do so. So why do I feel like I'm in competition with the school system? I feel stressed when one of my children doesn't "get" something. Instead of enjoying the beauty of homeschooling and taking our time, I drill and overwhelm. I think I do it out of fear that my children will be behind if they are ever forced to go into a school setting(like by the government-that's my biggest fear right now) . I want to enjoy our homeschooling experience and I do for the most part, I just wish that I wasn't so worried. If I took out the factor of trying to cover everything, I think our days would be a dream. I love spending time with my children. I love teaching them. I wouldn't have it any other way. I just need to RELAX!

I think we all feel pressure at various times. But, as you mentioned, this is a journey and it should be a beautiful, joyful journey for us and our little ones! Our Father is the ultimate standard and this world's ways are fleeting. =) *Hugs to you dear friend!* And, your family Easter picture is beautiful!!!

I go through this too. I love being home with my childre, teaching them but I'm always comparing our school to the ps. I am trying to relax some this year.
God Bless,
