Tolliver Tree Life Learning Center

Jan. 28, 2006 - 1/23-1/27

Good day everyone.

This week was an off one. We had so much to do and we had illnesses in the house.

Sun.- In Sunday school they learned all about the sense of touch. After that we went to the park to feed the animals (goats, pigs, horses, donkeys, ducks, deer, and llamas) and to play on the play structure.

Mon.- My birthday. We stayed home because it was snowing and raining out which makes for really bad roads. We just hang out. I think we were all a bit under the weather.

Tues.- Brett was home, so we went to an Imax theatre and saw the African Safari movie in 3-D which was just so cool! We then had lunch at Kelly's Roastbeef so food was naturally really good. We then went to their grandparents house for my birthday party and they got to play with their cousins.

Wed.- We stayed home and had a clean-up day. We organized the kids room (what fun). We built a model skeleton of some dino (I forget the name). We tried to make our own Floam but it didn't work. And we played A LOT of dolls:(

Thurs.- Our friend Sam came over. My Sam made 3 pages for their book of  knowlege which is of course all about animals. I have to say that with each page the layouts are getting better. He is now learning to categorize each page and write the information that goes with the page topic. Sam M. was a bit bored with the book so we taught our Sam how to play Battleship. The Sam's were also learning how to use the game cube.

Fri.- Welcome tummy flu! Bailey hurled all morning so we stayed home until the evening. Then Sam and I dropped Bailey off at their grandparents house and went out on a date. We went out for dinner and then attended a Military Band concert. It was sponsered by our church so Sam and I got to be ushers. It was a lot of fun. The band had about 15 members and was really good.

Jan. 20, 2006 - My first week entry

Well here it goes. My first entry of a "school week.

Monday- We now have a friend Sam that comes over on Monday afternoons to play. The Sam's decided to write a book together called "The Sam's Book of Knowlege". So far it is two pages of animal facts and jokes. Of course my Sam is the one writing the facts, I don't think he can joke about animals. Bailey and I are writing a book about colors and numbersbut I am sure that the theme will change each time we bring it out. After our play date we go to Sam M's house for art lessons. This week they learned about the point of interest in paintings and made their own paddle boat drawings.

Tuesday- We went to story time at the library. It was not so great, I think we will try a new library. The kids did have fun making their own cats. Brett had the day off so it was just nice to hang with him.

Wednesday- We had our food co-op so the kids got to play with a bunch of their friends. We then had science class at the library. It was about fractions. I'm not sure that Sam was so thrilled. If he doesn't like it next time we will not go again.

Thursday- We had a lazy day since the kids were up the night before. We learned about raccoons and made masks. Then we had the usual errands.

Friday- In the morning we read for about 2 hours while cuddling on the couch. Bailey and I made pancakes for breakfast. We stopped at a local Itallian Deli and decided we liked it. I told the kids that their great grandfather was born and raised in Italy before he moved here when he was a teenager. We then went to the park for 3 hours because it was such a nice day outside. There are animals at the park and our friend Kiwi was able to tell us things about them that we actually didn't know. Sam is doing really well climbing the equipment which is a huge stride for him. Bailey just loves watching all the kids and talking about them.

For more details about our days I will list things in catergories on the opening page.

Jan. 19, 2006 - New weblog

Hi everyone.

This is my new blog. It is for friends, and family to keep tabs on us. It will also help to keep my thoughts and info organized for when I need to submit info to the school system. I am hoping to update this once a week with the kids, and add pictures when I can.
