Getting Adjusted

We are really getting adjusted to our load of school work, however the house work is all together different.

Yesterday Alex woke up and asked if we could skip school today.  I laughed.  He wanted to cry, but carried on.

Alex really does not like writing.  He is wanting to do all his Grammer orally.  Occasionally I don't mind, but for the most part he has to write.  I haven't told him yet, it will soon get worse!

The twins are trying to breeze through the McGuffey's speller.  Drake was very upset yesterday at the number of words he missed.  He doesn't get the fact he has to really study! Alex figured this out last week and is taking smaller spelling tests.

Jacob is finally starting to really read.  The light bulb has come on and he is getting it.  Something tells me reading may always be a struggle for him, but he is finally getting it.

School is taking us about 4 to 5 hours.  Depends on the tatrums or tears!

The children each do their individual subjects and then together we do history, science, bible, sign language and reading a loud.

Currently we are reading "Om-kas-Toe"  About a Blackfeet Indian before the horses arrived.  I am not enjoying the book too much, but really seem to be.  I am also reading one story a day from "Jesus Freaks" about Christian Martyrs.  They are really enjoying the book.  I pray they get something out of it.

Now my house......let's not go there.  I felt victorious for having cleaned the fridge yesterday.  This upcoming week I will be adding schedules to the mix, including housekeeping.  But shhhh....don't tell them yet!

I think we all have days we'd really rather skip school.
