Swine Flu...Stock Up!
By now, I'm sure you all are aware of the Swine Flu Pandemic sweeping across the USA and devastating Mexico. It's obvious that we aren't getting all the facts through the media in the States, and for whatever reason they have behind this whole thing is critical for us to understand. There's several options for the media to be scaring us silly one day and then shrugging the problem off the next. One may be that they want the attention diverted from the many un-filled seats in Obama's administration. Or maybe they are serious about the whole Pandemic and really are concerned for the American people. However, they are giving us too little facts for us to make any sense about it. Yes, people are dying from this in Mexico, but so far there have been no deaths in the States. All the symptoms are ordinary flu symptoms, yet it's believed that this flu is a combination of human, swine, and bird. Most of the American people just have their heads spinning, trying to figure out what to make of it all.
Whatever the reason, whether we get all the facts or not, I do think it's important to stock up. My family's been stocking up for the last couple days on canned food, water, and paper products. Even if the Pandemic is a fluke and it's no big deal, I think it's important that everyone has supplies and food for any emergency. If the Pandemic is as bad as the media is making it out to be, people "may" be quarantined, not leaving their homes for weeks or months. If the Pandemic "is" a fluke, you'll still be prepared for any other emergency, whether natural disaster or terrorist.
Here's a list of things that you may want to have on hand:
Not Frozen:
Bottled Water
Canned Fruit
Canned Vegetables
Canned Soups
V8 Juice
Granola Bars
Canned Chicken
Canned Tuna
Powdered Milk
Juices
Flour
Sugar
Frozen:
Bread
Vegetables
Fruits
Other Items:
Toilet Paper
Anti-bacterial soaps
Shampoo
Vitamins
Medicines
Latex Gloves
Masks
Batteries
Facial Tissues
Tooth Paste
For Dogs/Cats:
Water Gallons
Dog/Cat Food
Dog/Cat Treats
Cat litter
Now, some of you are going to read the above list and go "Whoaaaa...she's a freak!". -_^ But honestly, these are all things you would want to have on hand to be prepared, and I'm sure there's other things you wouldn't want to do without if worst came to worst. Come up with your own list, talk to your parents, and maybe go on a shopping trip. =P
Also...WASH YOUR HANDS! As often as you can! Don't let people cough on you, sneeze on you, or blow their noses in your face...whether the Swine Flu is something to worry about or not, taking precautions will help you stay healthy. If your invited to Gabriella's birthday party and you find out two days before that she's down with a cold...don't go to the party. If Bethany and Jonathan, the two little kids you baby sit, are sick then don't go over to their house. Just use common sense...no one likes to be sick!
I have 0 talkers! Thank you people!
