Okay, let's talk about helping wildlife! If you live in the country, or even the city, you can have a wildlife garden! Just ask your parents permission first. It could be a huge garden, or just a small one. You could have one for deer, or one for bunnies, or even butterflies. It doesn't matter the size. You never know: maybe one day your garden will be the only place left for wildlife in your city! Then you'll feel like you've done something very special.
So, here's how you do it:
Mark off the area that you want for your garden. Don't put up any kind of fence that could cut animals. If you do put up a fence, make sure it isn't too low so animals can't go under, and not too high so deer can't jump over it.
Grow flowers and plants in your garden: especially native ones for your area.
Don't use chemicals on your plants! Last thing you want to do is kill all your animals that come!
Put up bird, butterfly, and bat boxes around your garden. Give 'em a home!
Don't feed wildlife, except for the birds in your garden. If you have deer visiting, you could put out some corn. Make sure it's all natural, though.
Wait and watch. If you keep the bird feeders full and corn on the ground, soon animals will know that your "garden" is the best around: because it's for them!
So try it!
