This entry has no title.
I suppose I’d best update since it’s been a week since I last posted. There's not too much to report; life has been fairly uneventful lately. I'm very comfortable in the pace that I've gotten into since the beginning of the school year. Things aren't going crazy, but I never have a "boring" moment. Thankfully, I've been able to get all of my homework done without ever having to rush or press myself for time.
A couple weeks ago, the youth pastor asked me if I would play the keyboard for the youth masses that we have every month. They really needed one...so I am practicing some stuff for that. It's weird because I've never really accompanied a whole bunch of people (other than my family occasionally singing hymns). Now, for some people, that might be no sweat. ;-) But for me, however, it's a little nerve-wracking.
Right now, I'm reading Sir Gibbie by George MacDonald and really enjoying it. It's just like everything else I've read by him - beautiful and poetic in a sense. It's as if he takes the essential parts of life and lifts them up to a higher level. His characters aren't always realistic, but you can learn so much from them. The diologue is a little difficult to follow, but I can always get the gist of it.
My list of books that I want to read is getting really long. It's about 3 pages right now...lol. I feel like I spend more time adding books to that list than I spend time actually reading!! ;-)
Well, I'm very sorry to all of you that I haven't commented in a long time. Would you believe that I've actually considered quitting this blog over the last couple weeks? It seems to be getting tiresome to keep up with. *sigh* But, I'll keep holding out for a while longer. I think I'll write what Jocelyn calls "a thinker post" sometime soon. I have a couple of ideas that I could expound on.
No galu govad gen!
Melon nin,
Sylvia

Oh... I am sure you would do fine playing in front of people... I'd love to know how to play some kind of instrument, but I don't. Sigh! Piano or violin would be nice.
Oooh.... you linked me... yes, write a "thinker post" soon - when you have time!
Love,
Jocelyn

Ah, you'll do great when you accompany. People aren't usually too picky, at least not that I've experienced.
I have George MacDonald on my list for summer (or fall, by now) reading. I read him a little when I was younger, but I doubt I appreciated him too much at that point. Hopefully I'll enjoy him a little more now.

Your title is a contradiction within itself, like the term "sola scriptura". The title of your entry was "this entry has no title" and no where in scripture can one read scripture alone.

I'm a big C.S. Lewis fan, and as of now I am working through all of his non-fiction. Right now I am reading Mere Christianity. I haven't read Miricles, but it sounds like a good book. I will look into it.
Thanks for commenting!

Hi Sylvia,
I didn't know you played piano! Do you enjoy it? I have been playing from lesson books for about three years now and I love it. There's not much opportunity for playing in public around here, but I play at home on our keyboard. What kind of music do you like to play? I usually do classical, Mozart, Beethoven etc. I like to write my own music too, thought its not very good.
Anyway,
TTYL

P.S. Oh, and I definitely think you should keep up you blog.

Hello!
We can still read The Magician's Nephew, if you all would like to. :) It's been a few years since I've read it, so I'll go and refresh my memory. Currently, I'm reading a 759 paged book! Ahhhhh! ;)
Oh, and those are some very good book suggestions! I definitely want to read Wuthering Heights. Thanks for your input!

Yes, Lewis came before Tolkien. Well, I don't grudge him the game, but I still think Tolkien was better. They are both great, though.
Oh, so you like piano too? I am the only one in our family who plays it much. Frodo plays it too, but she likes guitar more. I can't play guitar, at least, I have never tried.
Yes, we have the Prydain Chronicles, but I haven't read them yet. I will probably read them next year.
Btw, I put my October poll up, if you would like to see.
Sincerely,
Raora

I know what you mean about not finding enough time to blog. Since school started, I haven't had much time either. (BTW, we're in the same grade in school, I think. Maybe that explains it:)

Oct. 12, 2007 - Gibbie is SUCH a good book.
Posted by opckid
I read it about... two years ago, I think, and vastly enjoyed it. It was challenging, too, calling me to a higher obedience of God. =)
(I do have an HSB -- www.homeschoolblogger.com/opckid -- but I can't log into it, so I've been blogging at opckid.reformedblogs.com)
Take care!

Awww, I would be really really sad if you got rid of your blog.
Sometimes when I find myself resenting my blog then I realize it's time to take a break from it and leave it for a couple of weeks or so. That usually helps me to put everything back into perspective.
Hey, you can do all things through Christ which strentgths you! You'll do great on the keyboard. Just think of it as a ministy prospect.
Talk to you soon!
