Halo 3 and some other stuff.Posted at 2:32 PM on Sep. 26, 2007
Hey all, I'm still here. Just a lot of stuff going on in life, so I don't have a lot of time for blogging.
Post A Comment!
I think I'll mention the recent Halo 3 launch. Unless you've been living in a cardboard box underground on Mars, you've probably heard at least SOMETHING about Halo 3. Since it's the biggest game launch of the year, it's gotten about every other tech headline. It even showed up in the Wall Street Journal, to give you an idea of how all-encompassing this whole deal is. It's really rather annoying, all this coverage. Especially when most of the other coverage is about Apple, Inc's iPhone. Anyways, I do sometimes play Halo so I can appreciate what all the fuss is about. It's certainly a good game with good graphics and good, well, everything. 'Cept language, but that's one of the reasons it's rated M. Anyways, my point is that there really is more to life than video games. Games do come and go, but people are around a lot longer than the latest new hot video game. Don't get me wrong! I absolutely love gaming, and I think this whole Halo 3 thing is really neat. Couldn't they have driven the hype machine a little less hard, though? I'll (hopefully) get to see what all the fuss is about this weekend when I go over to a friend's house and actually get my grubby little hands on a controller and PLAY the darn thing. In other news, I've just released a new song, which you can check out by clicking here. Hope you like it, since it's a breakneck-paced Drum'N'Bass song. Games I'm playing at the moment: Tremulous (FPS) Final Fantasy VI Advance (RPG) Age of Empires II: The Conquerors Expansion (RTS) Legend of Zelda: The Minnish Cap (RPG) And now some terminology: FPS = first person shooter. Pretty obvious as to what that means. You have a first-person view, and you shoot things. RPG = Role Playing Game. You play as the game's main character, where you do quests and fight battles and whatnot. RTS = Real Time Strategy. You are in control of certain things, like the various "units" and buildings and stuff like that. You are responsible for keeping your team going by collecting resources and stuff. You are trying to strategically win the game by conquering the other teams or by completing some certain task. You do all this in real-time, so that means you don't take turns during the game. Everything happens at once. Well, I guess I'll catch y'all later! Untitled CommentPosted by Chris at 9:29 AM on Sep. 27, 2007

Never played any RPGs, so I can't really say anything about that. Just wanted to thank you for commenting on my post! (you're the only one who did) And about your comment...I realize that the concept of the computer is a great one, with limitless possibilities for sharing information. And barring any great calamity, it'll stay around for quite a while.

However, in the event of nuclear war or some physical catastrophe, leading to another Dark Ages, people could easily forget how to use computers. That's what I'm talking about- not that computers are dreadful, error-ridden technology, but the fact that they won't last in the event of war or catastrophe. And yeah, being a pessimist, I'm always ready for a big catastrophe. :-P Untitled CommentPosted by 6xwhatever at 2:00 PM on Sep. 27, 2007
