Everyone thinks I'm nuts. I like it that way!

What? A homeschooler that makes club dance music? Yup! This blog speaks of music, politics, religion, life, and just plain randomness or ranting.

Eleventyseven - Galactic Conquest (and also, Capture the Flag!)

Posted at 10:46 AM on Oct. 9, 2007
Ah, sorry guys.  It's already October 9th and I haven't hardly posted in October at all!

I haven't bought a CD in a few years.  Most of the music I listen to comes for a free download off the internet (legally) or on radio stations or internet radio or something.  Or I just listen to what my friends have to show me--in this case, Eleventyseven's new album Galactic Conquest.  When I heard this one, I knew I just had to buy it.

This album is, in my opinion, one of the best I've come across in a while.  Its style is a cross between Hawk Nelson/Relient K and a some synth-laden pop music.  Complete with energetic guitars and beats but drenched with synthesizers as well, I really love this synth-punk (hey, I invented a new genre word!) music.  Of course, some of the reviews I've read don't really like this fusion but for me...yeah!  You all know how much I love synthesizers, and I really like punk rock as well.  This is perfect for me.  You can check what's probably the best song on their album on their Shoutlife page--the song's called Love in your Arms.  Oh, and for those wondering, Shoutlife is basically a Christian-run-and-moderated MySpace.  It's MySpace with all the good social networking stuff and without all the cruddy pictures and stuff (the pictures are manually reviewed before being allowed to show up on the site).

That song alone is enough to buy the album, honestly.  The rest of the songs are pretty good too.

Well now I'm going to talk about a really fun Capture the Flag night our StudentMinistries group had on Saturday night.  Our church campus is fairly large, and we had the whole thing to run around on like crazy chickens with their heads cut off!  I set up a nice, loud PA system--unfortunately the speakers I had to use had their tweeters blown.  In layman's terms, that means that there were absolutely no high frequencies being heard.  Mostly just bass and midrange sounds.  So, the music I was playing sounded very muffled!  That's ok, since it was dance music and everyone knows the bass is what matters for that anyways!  Heh.

Well my team lost all three games we played, but oh well.  I still had a good ol' time anyways!  Even if I am one of the slowest-footed people out there.  What I mean by that is I can run pretty fast in a straight line, but if I'm trying to evade someone then I'm toast.  So that means I spent a bit of time in jail.  Ah well, it was still very fun!!!

One more thing, I've posted yet another song on ACIDplanet--you can listen to it by clicking here.

So there you guys go.  Make sure to check out Eleventyseven!  And sorry for my recent lack of posting, I've mostly been working on a remix for a contest at ACIDplanet.com and doing school and working and playing Tremulous (which I posted about a while back).
