Grrrrrreat!

This weekend was awsome! My dad and I  went to Knoxville Friday for the Saturday football game between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Tennessee Volunteers, Where we were given a hotel room to stay in and a executive suite to watch the game in. The man that owns the suite also owns a frozen food company named Zartic. Mr. Mauer took us out to dinner in Knoxville Friday night at a place called the Copper Cellar which is seen as the best (and most exspensive) resturant in town. Saturday morning we walked to the stadium and watched the game in the east sky boxes.

It was a winning game so all is well!
Now I am off to finish up school.

The deer hunt!

Well Im back after the weekend. We didnt do much this weekend but deer hunt And hang out with  my grandmother. I didnt get a deer but I did shoot AT one. I was sitting in the stand about 7 in the morning I havent seen anything all morning, Then all the sudden an 8 point buck walks out of the woods behind me and starts trotting off. I start making little noises trying to make him stop so I can try to get a shot off then   finnaly he stops with his but to me, he turns his head and looks at me as if like I knew you were there all along. I shot right over his back. Hopefully he'll come back some day!

Adobe photoshop and Chicken coops!!

Last night the Kings came over, we ate pizza and watched election coverage on fox news. We got Adobe photoshop yesterday and I sat up until 11 pm last night switching peoples heads with different peoples body's taking pictures of mountains and making people stand on them so it was pretty funny. Here are some pictures of our chicken coop and our chicken tractor.

As you can see the chicken coop is a small building with an old chicken tractor attached.

This is the latest chicken tractor and our young laying hens, we are soon going to put hen boxes in the back of it. We actualy have nine but this was taken when we first had the new hen house, and some were in it.

Hope you like the pictures!

The Invisible Eggs!!!!!

Posted in Farm Life

I think my chickens are laying invisible eggs. Sunday we went and got 19 laying chickens that were given to us. The man that gave them to us said they were laying close to 24 eggs a day. We have had them for 2 days now and either their laying invisible eggs or he just wanted to get rid of them. We'll just keep feeding them and see if they were just stressed from moving into a new home. Hopefully thats it because I want to get into the egg business.

Check out this picture and see if you see any INVISIBLE eggs.

I know , I know

Well I know it has been a while since I posted so here it goes. I am helping build a duck blind for waterfowl season. It is 13 feet wide, 30 feet long, and has a place to pull your boat in under a canopy. Its small room will have heaters in it and the shooting platform is really big.

I just bought a pair of chest waders from Cabelas. I am hoping to get a job at another gun club down the road. The coolest thing of all is that on Nov 24 my dad and I are leaving for Knoxville, Tennessee to watch the Volunteers play! My dad's company is taking us to Knoxville, giving us a hotel room, taking us out to dinner, and letting us sit in an Executive Suite at the very top of the stadium.

Well I will try to start blogging more often { : ^)

Well last night we went and saw a movie. It was called Facing the Giants. It was a Christian move about a football team that hasn't had a winning season in over a decade and the coach and his wife are barely able to make ends meet, there car doesn't work half the time, they have a smell in there house that they cant figure what it is, The husband walks in the school to hear a bunch of higher ups talking about firing him. So basically hes having a hard time. I cant tell you much more than that or it might spoil the movie. All I have to say is the movie was very good!!!!!!!!!

Today was a fun day!!!!!!!!

Posted in Fun Things

Today I had a lot of fun. I woke up at 5:30am and went to work with my Dad. After his meeting we ate chinese. Then we went to one of the coolest gun shops called Whittakers, it was great. Next we went to another gun shop called Uncle Lees where we bought powder, shot, and some gun care stuff. On the way home my mom called and said the guy that runs the gun club wanted me to go with him to another gun club to shoot. I hit 46 out of 50. Oh by the way I'm still looking for sponsors on shells. Just e-mail me. I would be glad to take ANY kind of 12 gauge shells.

If you want look at my recent scores I will post here every time I shoot

I have been busy!

Posted in Trapshooting

Well I haven't blogged in a while so here it goes.  I shot 97 out of 100, three 24's and a 25 two weekends ago.  I now have hit three 25's with my new gun, a browning bt-99.  I have been working with Joel King clearing land on his farm.  One of my friends is now the Kentucky state singles champion and the US open preliminary handicap champion. A feat I hope to accomplish someday..

Well I guess you can see that I have been pretty busy here lately.  Bye the way,  if ANYBODY feels compelled to donate shells or money to buy shells please do so. Trapshooting is not cheap

See ya later.

Chickens

Posted in Farm Life

I believe chickens are just about as smart as flies, at least mine are.We have our chickens in what's called a chicken tractor. It's basicaly a moveable coop. When we move it, instead of walking with it - they walk in the other direction and squawk like they're getting eaten alive when their legs get caught under it.

You'd think they would get the picture and understand. Today we were supposed to butcher chickens, but when we woke up it was way too hot.  We will just try again tomorrow!

Trapshooting

Posted in Trapshooting

Trapshooting is something I do every weekend. It is a sport where you take a twelve gauge shotgun (that is personally what I and 98% of the people that shoot trap use) and shoot clay targets. You may use a smaller gauge like a twenty or 410 but but no larger than a twelve.

You first load your gun, put it on you shoulder and call pull. In front of you there is a square trap house that has a trap machine in it that holds five hundred clay targets that are round and dome shaped. A clay target will then come out of the traphouse in one of seven directions doing 65 mph. You point the gun at the target and pull the trigger. Sounds hard huh?

Next you take your gun down, wait for the people beside you to shoot, and do it again twenty four more times. I shoot 100 to 200 targets a week. Some at 4H and some at the gun club I where I work, which I will have pictures of before too long.

I recommend if you want to start shooting trap, you go to your local 4H group to see if they have a trap team.  Shooting at 4H is better for a beginner because they actually will coach you on how to shoot properly and won't put pressure on you to buy an expensive gun. Many times if you go to a plain ol shoot most people will tell you you need a $1,000 plus gun.  If you want to invest in an expensive gun thats fine, but don't let anybody tell you that granpa's old shotgun thats been sitting in the closet for twenty years isnt good enough.

Have fun,

Joe
