Farewell

Posted in Travel
We are all packed up and heading to Muskogee, OK in the morning.  I will be offline for a while, so blessing to you that followed along with me on my journey.  If I go to the library, I will try and update.  Until then...

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving remembering our Lord Jesus who has given redemption to His people by shedding his blood on the cross and who died, was buried and rose again  and is now in heaven interceding for His people.  Let us thank God for our salvation.

Packing Part 2... Going home

Posted in Travel
One thing about the union rumors is that they are worse then women gossipers.  I seem to live in the ste of confusion not know to pack or unpack.

So after starting to pack last week, I was put on hold think GreatHeart was getting a layoff Friday.  NOPE.  He comes home Saturday evening telling my he is getting a layoff today and we will go home today or tomorrow.  So I am off to my whirlwind of packing and getting everything ready to leave.

HOME SWEET HOME!!!

Another week here...

Posted in Travel
Greatheart will not get a layoff until next Friday.  I have packed halfway, so now is the waiting part.

Kathrine got sick again yesterday morning for about 1 hour.  Someone told me to buy some green tea, ginger tea, acidophilus.   So I will invest to save in the long run.

So, that is it for now...

Packing Part 1..Am I typing the same post?

Posted in Travel
It sure does feel like it.

I am starting to pack to go home to Oklahoma!  I am dreading the packing because of course we have accumulated more books and a few toys.

I am excited about going home as long as I don't think of all the work I have to do.  I also am a little sad of not having internet.   I will miss all my online friends.

Back to packing, I will be doing a little at a time, Greatheart does not know his official lay off day; either this Friday or next Friday.  I am hoping next Friday.  More time to pack for me.

So this is what I'll be doing for a week or so...

Will it ever end?

...the stomach virus...

4 weeks now and I had 2 small girlies with the stomach virus  This time it only last 4 hours instead of eight and I am grateful for that.  Friday night it started at 5:30 am and last night or rather at 3: 15 am it started again.  I remove all sheets and blankets and clean well.  I spray lots of disinfectanct spray.  I bought disinfectant wipes.  What now?

Lack of sleep doesn't help.  I am glad it is Saturday.  Well, I am glad it is over for now,  I pray Surgar bear doesn't get it or Greatheart or me.

A New "used" Vehicle

Well, Greatheart, Got us  1984 Suburban.  It is brownish with some varied color stripes.  It is bigger, which is what we need.

The Lord always provides.

Also, I will continue blogging until I go home the weekend before Thanksgiving.  We decided not to get internet for a while.  It will be inconvenient and I will miss all my online friends, but new priorities have arrived.

So a few more weeks here.  I plan on snail mail more often.

A new Vehicle

Posted in Travel
The Lord makes sure that we trust in him in the trial that he brings in our life.

In this case it is needing a new vehicle.  Our '94 Ford explorer on its last days as the transmission is going out.  We bought it in WA state last year, so we have had it about a year.

We were shopping on the internet, on craig'slist.  We have bought 3 vehicles on there and we have our eye one a suburban.  Please pray that God will lead us to the right one.  We enjoy not having a car payment, it is so freeing.  I pray we can continue this process.

By the Way, The girls are doing better.

Sickness jn a motel

Posted in Travel
There is a lot of sickness going around here.  The worst...stomach sickness.

For three weeks, once a week, I stay up all night and clean up after one of my girls.  Whew, it is exhausting, but I ssem to be reminded everytime how the Lord cleans up after me.  My sin stinks worse.  Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his ways, by taking heed thereto according to thy word. Psalm 119:9.

Well, I think they are over it.  Babybear seems still sickly and lethargic, but no vom iting.

I am keeping my sinus at bay.  I take echinachea tea, elderberry syrup. apple cider vinegar and lots of vitamin C.

So that is what is consuming my time right now, taking care of my little girlies.

Back Online

Posted in Travel
I have not had any access to the internet for a week or so.

My birthday was October 19th.  I had a good Birthday.  Greatheart took me shopping with some birthday money I received in the mail.  I went to Bath and Body works and bought body wash, warm and pretty maroon socks, bath salts, and got Sugar Bear her own little body spray.  I also got a free lamb.  Greatheart and Sugar bear got me a hot pink lap desk and a beautiful Kansas calendar.  At church, I got a piece of birthday cake.  Great heart also sent me some flowers and chocolate.

Other than that, I am still here in a motel.  Greatheart is now working 7 days a week, so it is a looong week.
We are hoping to head home to Oklahoma before Thanksgiving.

Until next time...

Kansas City Zoo

Posted in Travel
Sunday, we went to the Kansas City zoo.  We had fun and saw bunches of animals.  We needed this family time.

The girls rode the carasoul and ate lots of icecream.  Mama, enjoyed all the breaks of sitting.  We walked and walked and walked.  I have been sore for three days.  I need to keep this up.

We were gone most of the day.  We had our church service here in the motel in the evening.

“Godly sorrow worketh repentance.” 10-13

Posted in Devotionals

This devotional was very sobering and encouraging to me this morning.

1 Corinthians 7:10

Genuine, spiritual mourning for sin is the work of the Spirit of God. Repentance is too choice a flower to grow in nature’s garden. Pearls grow naturally in oysters, but penitence never shows itself in sinners except divine grace works it in them. If thou hast one particle of real hatred for sin, God must have given it thee, for human nature’s thorns never produced a single fig. “That which is born of the flesh is flesh.”

True repentance has a distinct reference to the Saviour. When we repent of sin, we must have one eye upon sin and another upon the cross, or it will be better still if we fix both our eyes upon Christ and see our transgressions only, in the light of his love.

True sorrow for sin is eminently practical. No man may say he hates sin, if he lives in it. Repentance makes us see the evil of sin, not merely as a theory, but experimentally—as a burnt child dreads fire. We shall be as much afraid of it, as a man who has lately been stopped and robbed is afraid of the thief upon the highway; and we shall shun it—shun it in everything—not in great things only, but in little things, as men shun little vipers as well as great snakes. True mourning for sin will make us very jealous over our tongue, lest it should say a wrong word; we shall be very watchful over our daily actions, lest in anything we offend, and each night we shall close the day with painful confessions of shortcoming, and each morning awaken with anxious prayers, that this day God would hold us up that we may not sin against him.

Sincere repentance is continual. Believers repent until their dying day. This dropping well is not intermittent. Every other sorrow yields to time, but this dear sorrow grows with our growth, and it is so sweet a bitter, that we thank God we are permitted to enjoy and to suffer it until we enter our eternal rest.

May Christ keep me from falling.

“Able to keep you from falling.”

Jude 24

In some sense the path to heaven is very safe, but in other respects there is no road so dangerous. It is beset with difficulties. One false step (and how easy it is to take that if grace be absent), and down we go. What a slippery path is that which some of us have to tread! How many times have we to exclaim with the Psalmist, “My feet were almost gone, my steps had well nigh slipped.” If we were strong, sure-footed mountaineers, this would not matter so much; but in ourselves, how weak we are! In the best roads we soon falter, in the smoothest paths we quickly stumble. These feeble knees of ours can scarcely support our tottering weight. A straw may throw us, and a pebble can wound us; we are mere children tremblingly taking our first steps in the walk of faith, our heavenly Father holds us by the arms or we should soon be down. Oh, if we are kept from falling, how must we bless the patient power which watches over us day by day! Think, how prone we are to sin, how apt to choose danger, how strong our tendency to cast ourselves down, and these reflections will make us sing more sweetly than we have ever done, “Glory be to him, who is able to keep us from falling.” We have many foes who try to push us down. The road is rough and we are weak, but in addition to this, enemies lurk in ambush, who rush out when we least expect them, and labor to trip us up, or hurl us down the nearest precipice. Only an Almighty arm can preserve us from these unseen foes, who are seeking to destroy us. Such an arm is engaged for our defence. He is faithful that hath promised, and he is able to keep us from falling, so that with a deep sense of our utter weakness, we may cherish a firm belief in our perfect safety, and say, with joyful confidence,

“Against me earth and hell combine,

But on my side is power divine;

Jesus is all, and he is mine!”

Spurgeon Morning Devotion, October 7th

Posted in Devotionals

This is very encouraging to me since, I know trials are part of a Christian's walk.

“Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant?”

Numbers 11:11

Our heavenly Father sends us frequent troubles to try our faith. If our faith be worth anything, it will stand the test. Gilt is afraid of fire, but gold is not: the paste gem dreads to be touched by the diamond, but the true jewel fears no test. It is a poor faith which can only trust God when friends are true, the body full of health, and the business profitable; but that is true faith which holds by the Lord’s faithfulness when friends are gone, when the body is sick, when spirits are depressed, and the light of our Father’s countenance is hidden. A faith which can say, in the direst trouble, “Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him,” is heaven-born faith. The Lord afflicts his servants to glorify himself, for he is greatly glorified in the graces of his people, which are his own handiwork. When “tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope,” the Lord is honored by these growing virtues. We should never know the music of the harp if the strings were left untouched; nor enjoy the juice of the grape if it were not trodden in the winepress; nor discover the sweet perfume of cinnamon if it were not pressed and beaten; nor feel the warmth of fire if the coals were not utterly consumed. The wisdom and power of the great Workman are discovered by the trials through which his vessels of mercy are permitted to pass. Present afflictions tend also to heighten future joy. There must be shades in the picture to bring out the beauty of the lights. Could we be so supremely blessed in heaven, if we had not known the curse of sin and the sorrow of earth? Will not peace be sweeter after conflict, and rest more welcome after toil? Will not the recollection of past sufferings enhance the bliss of the glorified? There are many other comfortable answers to the question with which we opened our brief meditation, let us muse upon it all day long.

Activities in a motel

Posted in Travel
What do I do with my time?

Sundays,
I usually run errands with GreatHeart and we may do something like go to the park.  He had to work today, so the girls and I walked down to a breakfast place and ate.  I am getting more and more hungry.  We decided to pay extra and do laundry here at the motel (I do the laundry now) so we don't have to do this on Sundays anymore.  We try and listen to sermons on Sermon Audio and sing from the Trinity Hymnal or Cyber Hymnal orScripture songs.  We then attend a home church around 4:30 and eat supper afterwards.  We will not attend tonight since Greatheat works.

Monday-Friday

Schooltime!  I work with Sugarbear  from 9-3 pm with school.  Honey bear colors and plays with Babybear.  After lunch, Nap Time...HURRAY!!!  I usually don't nap since I am helping Sugarbear, but I do try and read or something.  In the evening, we will eat lots of processed foods.  On wednesdays, we go out and run errands.  I found a wonderful organic store.  Other evenings, we will play games or watch a dvd.  we will then do family worship and bed time.

Saturday
I told Sugar bear, if Papa works, you will do school, but if he is off, she is off.  So another school and activity day.

Yesterday, being Saturday and Papa worked, we took off.  We walked 5 blocks to a flea market and walked another 5 blocks back.  We stopped at some antique and book stores.  Then we stopped for some nachos and lemonade at the corner Old fashion Pharmacy.  Then we came back, at lunch and walked 2 blocks to a tea room, which it was closed and did eat some brownies and soda at the old tea room and walked 2 blocks back.  WHew!  we were tired.  We had fun!

I was trying to think about what to do today.  I am tempted to walk 3-4 blocks down near the Missori River and let the girls run around.  we'll see.  After  a busy day yesterday, Babybear is more cranky today.

After a week of being without wireless internet, I am glad I can get connected today.  We will see about later or tomorrow.

Eating in a Motel

Posted in Travel
We are still here in Leavenworth.  It has been 2 weeks here in a motel.  Some have asked me how do I do it?  I don't know.  I just do the next thing.  Also the grace of God to get me from minute to minute.

Eating.

We have to do this to survive.  Right now it is survival.
For breakfast, we rotate eating
cold cereal,
 oatmeal with
fruit  or bagel

For lunch,
the girls eat PB &J
I think they get tired of it, so once i in a while, if we go out to eat they get leftovers from a restaurant...this is a treat.  I eat whatever as my taste buds act funny.

For supper, we have had,
lots of ramen noodle,
ravioli,
chinese food,
Progresso soup
and sometimes hotdogs.

This is not very healthy, but it works for now. My Greatheart kindly takes me out twice a week to eat, even for a subway.

This sums up our eating situation.  We have some snacks, such as chocolate pudding, cheese its, fruit chews, I found for a dollar.
I am open to any other suggestions  as to what to eat.  We have a fridge, microwave and coffee pot.

We made it here

Posted in Travel
We left a day later on Tuesday.  We were hoping to be here around 2:00pm.  But, as usual, we had a little adventure.

We had a flat tire south Kansas City, KS.  We had just merged on loop 435.  Greatheart decided to drive 2 miles to a Firestone.  The the big city slickers ripped us off and sold us 2 tires since the other tire was too small.  So while we waited, we went to an interesting place called the Rainforest Cafe.  Honey Bear was scared at first since it is made like a real jungle, but soon she adapted and said she was braving.  They have animals such as an alligator, elephant, and monkey that make noises and move.  It was pricey, but we had a good diversion. After 1 1/2 hours, we picked up our car with 2 new tires and headed to leavenworth, Kansas.

We arrived around 7:00pm.  We had been praying for a motel with cheap prices for a family of 5.  We are staying in a decent motel.  We are upstairs for yesterday and today; we will move downstairs tomorrow.  The owner talked to Greatheart and asked him to check some electrical work and will give him a discount.

The Lord is so faithful and merciful.   I added 4 great sermons on prayer.  I encourage you to listen to them.  They have been a real help to me.

Another Temporary Move

Posted in Travel
Thank you for your comments of encouragements and prayers.

Well, it does look like I will have a temporary move.   I am tired and desire to stay home, but God has other plans.  I know He will give me strength.

My mom came this week to help me out.  Then I will leave back with her for a week and come home.  Then My GreatHeart will come on Labor Day and pick me up and I will go up with him to Kerney, MO for about a month.

So, although I am not happy about leaving my home and church, I am very happy to be with my GreatHeart.

I pray God gives me strength as I am still not able to do much.
Here is a lyric from a children's song called "My name is Paul":
"I am happy because when I am weak, then I am truly strong."
