A few weeks ago, Mitchell began working the soil in our garden boxes to prep for spring planting.  He has been taking a gardening class in Coop and planted lots of seeds which are now his little seedlings.  We also purchased a few plants in case our seedlings don't make it.  Last year our  crop produced dismal results.  The plants seemed to grow a certain height and then they just stopped.  We hope we have enriched the soil enough to half a better crop this season.  I can hardly believe it has come around again!

We planted tomatoes, peppers, cilantro, squash, chives and at Madilynn's request, strawberries!

In my little section of earth, my Echinacea, or cone flower, has returned this year.  I am so pleased and can't wait to see it's first bloom.  I planted more Zinnia seeds too.  They were so beautiful last year and lasted so long.

Hi Cassidy!
I just love how your daughter looks like she has so much personality! I hope her strawberries do well, I've never been able to grow them.
I am planting some echineacia (sp?) this spring from seed. Are they very hardy? I got my seed from my father in laws garden last fall. My hopes were to get a native garden planted this year. I'm also wanting to get some lavender established this summer. I always have these great ambitious plans, getting it done is something altogether different I'm afraid.
Cassidy, your site looks great here. I love the pink!
I hope your week is going great.
Blessings, Julie

About Cassidy

Photobucket

I am a wife and Mother who's brain moves too fast, in too many directions, at the same time! I am quite eclectic and dichotomos in my approach to most things. I love French Country, painted furniture, flawless, traditional wood finishes and chippy peely, old treasures. Something old next to something new is so charming. Sparkly is great if kept to a minimum. Needing schedule and list to accomplish most things, I get bored quickly with routines. I love conservative talk radio! Chocolate is a fav as is cheesecake, pizza and fish tacos. I enjoy baking, cooking with new recipes, reading, being outside with the family, camping and watching a good movie. Writing is fun for me and maybe, just maybe one day I will write a book! I wish I had a library in my house and the time to read each book.
