Apr. 27, 2009 - Lemonade for Water, at Dog Training?

Our church is big on serving "Glocally" -Global and Local.  Mission trips are not just funded through some other organization, people from our church go and serve.  Haltom City, Texas, Mexico and Vietnam are our main missionary focus locations. The kiddos learn this from an early age and it is incorporated into their curriculum during Wednesday night T-Kids.  They had a challenge to help out  the church's summer mission trip to Vietnam - Raise lots of money to buy water filters for families.  One water filter can provide clean water for a family of 5 for ten years.

Lots of Lemons!
Madilynn and Mitchell had witnessed older kids having lemonade stands and bake sales at the church and various other activities outside of church to raise money.  Madilynn really wanted to do the same, so we asked our dog trainer with K-9 Direction if we could set up a lemonade stand at a training workshop last Saturday.  He excitedly said yes and was pleased someone asked!  We might do more stands in the future to help raise money for some of the dog rescues for which he volunteers.

Making Fresh Squeezed Lemonade

Once the deal was on, Mitchell Googled a lemonade recipe and went to work figuring out what supplies we would need.  We bought and squeezed over 30 lemons! (yes I know it would be cheaper to just use some powdered lemonade, but it would not taste, near as good!)  With a little sugar and water, voila, the perfect refreshing drink!  We made cookies, signs, loaded tables and chairs and were in business!

Lemonad Stand

The kids manned the table and raised enough money to buy water filters for 3 families!  It was a super learning experience for them!

What an industrious couple of kiddos you have, so generous too! They're making memories that will last a lifetime and hey, Cache is becomming a much more mannerly part of the canine world to boot :-)!

About Cassidy

Photobucket

I am a wife and Mother who's brain moves too fast, in too many directions, at the same time! I am quite eclectic and dichotomos in my approach to most things. I love French Country, painted furniture, flawless, traditional wood finishes and chippy peely, old treasures. Something old next to something new is so charming. Sparkly is great if kept to a minimum. Needing schedule and list to accomplish most things, I get bored quickly with routines. I love conservative talk radio! Chocolate is a fav as is cheesecake, pizza and fish tacos. I enjoy baking, cooking with new recipes, reading, being outside with the family, camping and watching a good movie. Writing is fun for me and maybe, just maybe one day I will write a book! I wish I had a library in my house and the time to read each book.
