"A fallen souffle` is just a risen omelette. It depends on how you look at it, that's all - from above or below."
~Rabbi Lionel Blue
I love this quote. It makes me think of failures in my life. I see the fallen wreck of a souffle` but maybe God sees it as a risen omelette - an opportunity to teach me, humble me, and for Him to be glorified!
1. Allow thyself to complain of nothing, not even the weather.
2. Never picture thyself to thyself under any circumstances in which thou are not.
3. Never compare thine own lot with that of another.
4. Never allow thyself to dwell on the wish that this or that had been, or were, otherwise than it was, or is. God Almighty loves thee better and more wisely than thou doest thyself.
5. Never dwell on the morrow. Remember that it is God's not thine. The heaviest part of sorrow often is to look forward to it. "The Lord will provide."
Four things a man must learn to do
If he would make his record true:
To think without confusion clearly;
To love his fellow-men sincerely;
To act from honest motives purely;
To trust in God and Heaven securely.
“Why do women want to dress like men when they’re fortunate enough to be women? Why lose femininity, which is one of our greatest charms? We get more accomplished by being charming than we would be flaunting around in pants and smoking. I’m very fond of men. I think they are wonderful creatures. I love them dearly. But I don’t want to look like one. When women gave up their long skirts, they made a grave error…" Tasha Tudor
~ I love this quote. It makes me thoughtful.
I love the fact that Tasha wore long dresses--many of them vintage-- everyday. She wore long dresses milking her goats, working in the garden, cleaning house, etc. Just like our great, great grandmothers did. She wore them until the time of her death in June 2008 at the age of 92.
"Ladies who feel that breaking away from God's plan is an assertion of their individuality have believed the devil's lie. The devil has got us to accept his stereotype of an unattractive, unappreciated household drudge, in bondage to diapers and dishes, instead of the Bible view of a lovely, godly homemaker." ~p.62 The Lady the Lord is Looking For by Cathy Cole
The following are some of my favorite verses/poems on work and our attitudes toward the work we must do. They are great for memory work, penmanship or copywork.
If a task is once begun,
Never leave it till it's done;
Be the labor great or small
Do it well, or not at all.

Beautiful hands are those that do
Work that is earnest and brave and true,
Moment by moment, the long day through.

Seven Days make a week
Sixty seconds make a minute,
Something sure you can learn in it;
Sixty minutes make an hour,
Work with all your might and power;
Twenty-four hours make a day,
Time enough for work and play.
Seven days a week will make;
You will learn, if pains you take.

The years have slipped bye so quickly. It seems as though it was just yesterday we were starting out homeschooling with a six year old and a 3 year old. Now my sons are 21 and 18 and this is my last year of homeschooling. A new season in life is ahead ~ the best is yet to come.
