I Work From Son Up To Son Down

Jun. 15, 2006

"Mama, that was a perfectly good hairy dirty sucker!"

Roman has been sick as you can see by his runny little nose, but today was a day that went down as a first for him. Abram gave him a sucker. I guess Abram felt sorry for him and let him have his. This made Roman incredibly happy, of course, and when he crawled his way into my eyesight, the stickies on his face had attracted everything on the way. I'm not sure how much of that solidified sugar made its way into his mouth, it looked like he battled the sucker and the sucker won.

The look you are seeing is one of disbelief that I took the nasty hairy sucker from his super sticky hand and tossed it. You see this round ball on a stick had been dragged along the carpet in a very chubby hand, and was not appealing to look upon, let alone lick. This was then followed up with a warm washcloth to clean his soft little face, including that runny nose.

Let's just say, I didnt score any brownie points with the baby. I think he will stay clear of me next time someone generously donates a secret sucker again.

P.S. Abram and I had a little chat about such gifts....hehehe

So....would you say that taking candy away from a baby was an easy feat or not? :p Sam has hit that stage where he has a fit when you take something from him...especially when he's tired. :-S

That picture is priceless!

It's hard to fault the generous spirit behind the gift, isn't it? Teaching discernment and wisdom in gift-giving--an ongoing adventure!

Thats funny...poor little guy...hehe. I am sure he enjoyed it while it lasted. I remember when I took away a piece of Red Vines from Luke when he was about that age. He look of shock was more of a screaming and crying fest. His face was cover too, cause he would suck on it and then his aim wasn't very good when he would take it out of his mouth and then try to put it back in. He was red every where. But they still look so cute!!

Hi Trina
Love it! So gross yet SO sweet!
I know my boys often bribe their little sister with a candy to get her out of their space. The other day I found such a candy stuck to the cat!
Thanks for giving me a giggle!

Sorry I have not commented in awhile-I didn't dissappear just having computer probs.I have been there with the hairy suckers 3 times over and still go there occasionally.I can not get the kids to realize that with sucker in hand you do not stick it to the couch or floor or whatever, they still have not caught on to that.I am also pondering homeschooling my gal,Kendall.Educational opportunities cease to exist for her as of 3rd grade.I cannot stand by and let that happen...but I am so new to the concept.Lost.By the way love the blog about rocking Roman,awesome!K.T. says peace

I am writing to thank you for the suggestion of the Eye Witness books (from your homeschool resources). I finally got my middle child to read something!! I checked out like 15 of these books and he loves them.

I hope Roman feels better soon! That is a classic photo!

About Me

Ohhh...what 5 boys can get you into! Join me on my daily journey with my beloved sons, and on being the Godly wife and mother that I am trying to be! I was married at 17 to my first true love when he was 18. I know it sounds crazy, but we had both of our parents blessings. I had my first son at 18, well almost 19. I am 35, and will be married a whopping 18 years in June. I was homeschooled as a teenager in the 1980's, and I homeschool my boys as well. We live on 20 acres, and we allow the boys to roam and just be boys! Life is good and we are HAPPY!
