Is This Bouquet For Me???

Posted in Trina Tales

Saturday night was full of marital fun. That leaves this post wide open, I know, but what I mean, is that a sweet young lady from our church had a bridal shower, and I got to attend.

I love all the traditions on an occasion like this. There are the typical games, and the little book that meanders around that you are supposed to pen your best marital advice in. The only problem with a book like that, is that the young bride doesn't normally take those words of wisdom to heart until a few years into her marriage. Knowing this, I felt the freedom to jot down anything and everything I wanted....hehehe I'm just a regular fountain of widsom...lol

Anyway, the bride to be, came into the beautifully decorated room, that was just for her, and she quickly made the rounds of hellos, and before we knew it she was gone. Soon after, paper and pens were handed out, and we were asked to make a list of everything that she was wearing. I said aloud, "Oh no.....I should have paid attention." However, very quickly the image of her came to me. I could remember the finest of details, what color eyeshadow she had on, even that her pants were tucked inside of her boots, and the exact detail of her necklace. I happily turned it in, feeling quite pleased that nothing went unnoticed on the poor girl.

Later, the winner was announced. Heart beating inside my chest, palms sweaty with excitement, and my breath loud with anticipation, my name was announced. I jumped up, screamed, stood on a chair to make a speech, when they came over and handed me this beautiful bouquet of purple flowers that I had been eyeing since I walked in the door. (Okay, I may be enhancing this story a tad.)

I was thrilled. I thought they were absolutley beautiful! The most surprising aspect of this story for me, was how observant I was. I really didn't think I paid that close of attention to people. I knew I was a people watcher, but I may have a little stalker in me....LOL

Wow! I wish that I was at that shower. Maybe I'll get to go to the wedding... She looked really happy in the picture on the invitation. Anyway, I enjoyed your story, and congratulations!

I never in a million years would have won that bouquet. I just don't pay that close attention to clothes and such. How fun for you though!

I am tucking away that little game for future events like this! Pastor's wives are often asked to host or at least help host these kinds of things! I think they mostly want someone coming that has a key to the door! :) Seriously, I love the game although I would not have noticed/remembered unless she was wearing something very unique!

That also makes me think that would be a great game to play to enhance our children's observation skills! :) We may play the 2nd grade version tomorrow! I think that would definitely count for a grammar exercise on adjectives or something! :)

Hey the best part is you didn't have to elbow others out of the way to catch this bouquet! :) In Him, Eva

Oh, that's just wonderful! Congratulations!
I have to say you are a girl after my own heart. I unknowingly notice all the details of the people around me. Maybe it's a girl thing. I know that guys have a lot of difficulty in this area. =)

The flowers are gorgeous!!!

Just a tad!? I would have loved to have heard that speach from the chair. I still think that somehow you must have cheated, that prize should have been mine!:)

A bridal shower!! I haven't been to a bridal shower in sooooo long. They are so much fun, and I love the newness & expectation of the bride-to-be's face!! Kinda reminds you to go home and look at your husband as that treasure instead of taking him for granted. I hope someone around here gets married soon. Though I don't know anyone. :(

And the bouquet is so pretty! Doesn't it just brighten up life to see such a bouquet just sitting there looking so pretty without even trying? Congrats on being so observant. I would have failed miserably. lol. ~madeleine

I've been missing ya! What's been happening? How are those precious boys of yours? My computer hasn't been behaving so I haven't been able to do much blogging or posting at TGR. I LOVE the flowers by the way, lucky you! It's funny, because I am much the same way (stalker-ish *wink*) and notice details that others don't. I think it's a "girl thing" because my dear husband can't tell me ANY details and it drives me nuts! When he talks with someone, I NEED to know what was said, and if possible, what they were wearing at the time. (Tee hee.) Have a wonderful weekend! :o)

About Me

Ohhh...what 5 boys can get you into! Join me on my daily journey with my beloved sons, and on being the Godly wife and mother that I am trying to be! I was married at 17 to my first true love when he was 18. I know it sounds crazy, but we had both of our parents blessings. I had my first son at 18, well almost 19. I am 35, and will be married a whopping 18 years in June. I was homeschooled as a teenager in the 1980's, and I homeschool my boys as well. We live on 20 acres, and we allow the boys to roam and just be boys! Life is good and we are HAPPY!
