Christmas Countdown

Posted in Trina Tales

Christmas time in a house full of children is so wonderful. Den and I have tried to stay with our tradition of setting up all of our Christmas decorations Thanksgiving weekend. I dont know who gets more excited about all the festivities the boys or the parents.

River and Dennis handled the outside lights. Actually, River did the majority, and he did a fabulous job. At first we were disappointed to be setting up all the lighted decorations on the plain dirt ground, but the weather came through and began to sprinkle plenty of snow to make it look like a winter wonderland.

I, on the otherhand, decorated the tree and wrapped all the gifts that were purchased on Black Friday. Den and I relish our day of shopping for our boys. Each item we buy is thrilling when we think about the smiles that will come across their groggy faces on Christmas morning.

Every window has Christmas or winter cling-ons smeared on by little hands, and wreaths are hung on doors inside and out. Lights are lit up on every strand that we can possibly find an outlet to plug them into. Snowmen and Santas are dragged out of Christmas labeled totes, and dusted off and tugged back into shape. As we discuss whether this snowman should be placed here or there, Roman is sneaking mini candy canes that have been lowly hung on the tree. We make sure that Christmas music is piped into the house while we bustle about with excitement.

The Christmas countdown begins.

Your home looks beautiful and festive - I saw your gifts are under the tree already - it would drive my kids crazy - to have them there - lol...We wait until Christmas eve night - we don't do Santa - yet - we do love the surprise and suspense that builds in the children as they await that morning...

Trina,
I love the pictures!! Your house looks great. I also love the pictures of the birthday party. We decorate all over the house too. I still have to put up my window clings and our outdoor lights. I wish we had some snow but it's been to warm up here.

The picture of your house and outside lights looks so beautiful! Its too bad that in all likelyhood, by christmas morning those poor deer and snowmen will be buried under the snow. I feel a little clostrophobic just thinking about it:)

Your lights and tree look so beautiful! I'm lagging a bit behind getting our stuff out this year, as we usually do it early too, but seeing your pictures help get me motivated. =)

YAY!! Your house looks so pretty!! I love shopping black friday! Chloλ and I are out the door at 5am-ish. We do quite alot of shopping that day. More tradition and fun, then the good values.

I love all the snowmen you have. We usually wait until after John's birthday to decorate, which means we dig out all our stuff today!!

Isn't it wonderful having such helpful sons?

Come to Florida and see all the Christmas lights set up on bright green lawns. That will make you think you have entered another dimension!

About Me

Ohhh...what 5 boys can get you into! Join me on my daily journey with my beloved sons, and on being the Godly wife and mother that I am trying to be! I was married at 17 to my first true love when he was 18. I know it sounds crazy, but we had both of our parents blessings. I had my first son at 18, well almost 19. I am 35, and will be married a whopping 18 years in June. I was homeschooled as a teenager in the 1980's, and I homeschool my boys as well. We live on 20 acres, and we allow the boys to roam and just be boys! Life is good and we are HAPPY!
