Yadkin Valley Train

Yesterday me and my family was going to go get us a webkinz. On the way we seen the Yadkin valley train back up and pick up a bunch of carts the train was very long.It went back up the tracks and came back in reverse.

A long time ago we got to go to Tweetsie Railroad and ride a train it was awsome that was the first time I ever got to ride on a train. We watched indians and cowboys shoot at each others we got to buy fake guns and shoot at the cowboys and indians.

Plays

Today we read a book called The Bakers Neighbor adapted by Adele Thane. It was a good book. It had 9 charaters : the Baker, Pablo, the Boy, the Judge, three Woman,Romona,Inez and Isabel and Villagers. It is based on a play. we each played three people it was fun to read.

My moms aunt bought tickets to go see The Wizard of OZ a year ago. It was a  pretty good play. We also seen Betty Lynn she played as Thelma Lou in the Andy Griffith show a long time ago. It was cool to see someone famous that played on a tv show. Id like to go see another play sometime.

Rubber Wishbone

Rubber Chicken Bone

What You Need

  • Uncooked chicken bone or wishbone
  • Clean, empty glass jar with lid
  • White vinegar

What to Do
Clean the bone thoroughly and let dry overnight. Place the bone in the jar and add enough vinegar to cover the bone. Secure the lid and let the jar stand undisturbed for seven days.

What Happens
The bone becomes soft and rubbery. It can be twisted, and, in some cases, tied in a knot.

Why It Works
The vinegar (acetic acid) dissolves the calcium from the bone, leaving it soft and bendable.

Beekeeping

Today we read a book called From Bees to Honey by Sylvia A Johnson. It was cool. So we went online to look at some pictures of the bees and beekeepers. I would hate to do beekeeping because it would be dangerous. I also think it would be cool.

You can watch videos of beekeeping ,and see pictures of it to.

What I Learned Today

Today we read a story called The Diver and the Dolphins by Wayne Grover. In the story he saved a baby dolphin. After reading the story we wanted to know what sounds fish make. So we went online and did some research.

Let The Blog-a-versary Giveaway Begin :)

Posted in Fun Stuff

Okay I'm back and I've got 2 fun giveaways for you :) First the goodies:

I have a copy of Pirateology ~ A Pirate Hunter's Companion by Candlewick Press and this is one of my sons all time favorite books! It's written from a pirate hunter's point of view and is packed with all sorts of little tuck ins. There are ships logs, navigation, written letters, all sorts of pockets to open and find treasures, knot tying lessons with leather ropes to practice on and so much more. It will keep them reading for hours if not months! It's also perfect for reluctant readers as they make it so much fun to explore the life of a pirate that they just have to read it *grin*.

Now for all of you mama's out there! I've got a fun 8" x 8" scrapbook kit for you :) It includes a 4 ring chipboard binder that is a completely blank canvas so you can decorate it to fit any type of photos you want to put in it, acid free page protectors, double sided patterned paper, textured card stock, alphabet and number stickers, 2 sheets of die cut chipboard and ribbon. This would be perfect as a school album for all of those great photos and artwork I just know you are going to collect this coming school year!!

Calico cats

What are calico cats? I asked this question because I have a calico cat named luna. Luna is a female cat. She is many colors orange, black and white.

I looked on the internet  to find out about calico's. I learned that they had to be three colors  (black ,orange and white ) to be a calico cat. The colors come from their genetics ( their Mom and Dad). Females are more common males are extremely rare.
