Introducing ourselves
Hello new friends,I am a Christian stay at home mom and have been homeschooling for 13 years now and have two homeschool graduates. We have four sons and one daughter. Our boys are Nicholas 20, Bret 19, Daniel 16 & Michael 15 and our daughter Ariel is 13.Our 16 year old son and 13 year old daughter are Epileptic and that has definately given us some challenges in our little schoolhouse, but I could not imagine my children dealing with that in a public school or anywhere, but home. We have used a variety of things in our school and I am very eclectic, but there are tried and true things that we use over and over and continue to have success with.I have really loved The Charlotte Mason way of doing a lot of things. We have had great fun with unit studies, nature journals, learning about the arts and things like that.In fact unit studies are my favorite way of learning history. We have used them with Colonial periods,The Pioneer days, studying the presidents and several other periods in history. Right now we are using Beautiful Feet Early American History as a unit study and Alpha & Omega for History and Geography. We are also using Christian Liberty Press for Spelling and Geography. For Science we use a lot of good books and some things from Rod & Staff and different things we've gotten from Creation Scientists and such. We are also using Alpha & Omega for Health. Anyway I guess you get the general idea and I do plan on writing up my schedule on here as much for myself as any help I can give to anyone else. I have a lot of tips for cheap and free crafts and field trips that we have used, especially when times were really tight and free or next to it was all we could afford.I look forward to meeting new friends and hoping to help anyone I can.God bless,Linn |
