• Saturday, April 28, 2007 - Wildflower Season

I'm passionate about wildflowers.

We have over 25 varieties just on our land alone throughtout the Spring and Summer.  The Vervain is in full bloom right now and it looks like I have a field of Lavender. I love to look across the pasture and see all that purple. Not to mention it's mixed in with the yellow Texas Dandelions, Fleabane, False Garlic, Wild onion, Toadflax and Indian Paintbrushes.

Anyway...
Over the years, I've collected intersting jars (not just mason jars) for our vases. One of my favorites is a small, glass vanilla bottle. This type of bottle doesn't hold much but it's so pretty to have a few dainty flowers in them. So look around your kitchen and think about the things you throw away. You might just find a sweet looking jar for an old fashioned vase.

My very favorite bouquets are of the wildflowers that my Crew brings in for me from the woods. I usually just put it in a glass and place it in the center of the table.
I will surely miss these beauties when no one is inclined to do it anymore, so thanks for the reminder to appreciate them on this day.

Oh Angela,
I wish I was there with you to enjoy a Sunday afternoon on your land. How about those berries we picked? Has the season past?

Thanks for the welcome on my blog, Ang! I'm going to enjoy this, I am certain. I love your blog, and I did see your wonderful pictures. For some reason the one with the kids on the rock looking out at the water brought tears to my eyes. Something about their looking back on that experience as they work on the mission field someday crossed my mind. I know that's weird, but I have always thought one of them, particularly Sarah, will be a missionary. I'm probably way off base, but anyway, my eyes welled up! It's a beautiful picture.
I would like to know how to add friends; is that what the permanent link thing is for?
God bless your day, friend!

Hey friend,
I did have a bit of trouble with posting this morning, and ended up with multiple postings! Then I couldn't get the delete feature to work. I think it might have been because it was lunchtime, so I won't show up then anymore! I just (at almost 4pm) got it to delete the extras.
Thanks for the invite for Justin on Sunday nights; we just can't come back into town on Sunday night, esp. with the price of gas now. Right now Grace is offering the TP for adults, but I'm hopeful they'll offer it for the student ministry after that. It looks wonderful, and if they'd do it on Sunday morning it would be perfect!
I hope you're having a wonderful day; where is Mr. Phillip today? Still in MS?
Love, Steph
