With a three year old who just doesn't want to be toilet trained? She knows how to do it. She can do it. But she likes nappies. It seems that the problem is that she would rather be busy playing and doing 'important' things than in stopping and going to the bathroom. She actually argues with me when I put her training pants on her in the morning because she wants her nappy. We give rewards for going potty, which she is very happy about. We have some special Dora the Explorer underpants that she may have when she is finally successful. So it's not like there are no incentives to mature. At this point in time I think we just have to persevere. Put training pants on her every morning when she gets up, until she works out that she has no choice in the matter. This is the new routine, and this is what is happening. I feel for her. I'm not one of those Mums who overly values early milestones, or want to push their kids to excel in relation to other peoples' kids. Oh, I'm proud of my kids' achievements, and we give them opportunities to excel, but we want to let the kids be driven by their own desires and interests, not ours. But she's three. She's been fully toilet trained three times now and just decided that she's bored with it. We're having a new baby in three months time and I really only want two babies in nappies at once! I know she is capable. She isn't willing, and she is very headstrong so this issue may come up a few times in future. So yes... if anyone else has had a headstrong potty-trainer, I'd love to hear about it! Leave a Comment { Last Page } { Page 29 of 235 } { Next Page } |
