We had to say good-bye to Scooter last Sunday afternoon. She was almost 17 years old and had really begun to show her age. Taylor read that the average age cats live is 15 years, so we feel very lucky to have had her as long as we did.

  She died peacefully at home and the girls have handled it all very well. It really helped to have the little kitten in the house during this emotional time and we have decided to keep her. The timing of finding Basil and losing Scooter was too coincidental, so we feel that she was just meant to be a part of our family.

  If she lives as long as our others cats have, the girls will grow up, leave home, and she'll help ease us through the 'empty nest' stage.
