Oct. 28, 2008 - thinking on this election

some get so caught up in what each side stands for and how they are going to fix whatever it is. i have come to the conclusion that most of that doesn't matter. now i haven't looked into  what each stands for the most part.but have decided on who i'm voting for and it has nothing to do with how to fix the economy. the government can't fix mine when they can't even fix thier own. i can fix mine by cutting back till it hurts and then some. it means doing without and living in my budget. it has nothing to do with the war issue. we are always going to have wars. it has to do with where they stand on Biblical princplices. thats makes deciding who to vote for so easy

Oct. 20, 2008 - church

if it ever comes to it. it's gonna be  hard to pick. i;'ve been at this church for over six years now. truthfully there are only a handful of people still going there that was there three and half years ago.sometimes i'm not sure why i stay. i enjoy my sunday school class. i've pretty much got the only kids in my kids age level. i guess i just dislike change. now the preaching is mostly good there are times i disagree with what he says  said but then i'll do that no matter who preaches. oldest dd and family have started going to a another church. i really like the 8 am service there. good preaching the pastor makes a point to greet everyone. i reallt enjoy the fact that the words to the songs are put up on the wall. i enjoy the  band. it has a combination of newer upbeat songs and the old hymns.right now i'm attending the 8 am service at the church dd goes to then to mine for sunday school and church. works pretty well for me. if dh ever gets to going to church mine won't be an option which is ok with me i'd rather be in church with dh.

Oct. 11, 2008 - late rablings

i was actually gonna post wednesday night  after family night dinner. can't remember now why i didn't.anyhoo  the excitement for the day was 19 yo ds got home from work along with son in law. they  were trying to sight ds's bow in. ds shot a arrow in their cube target thingy and the arrow got stuck. in the process of getting the arrow out ds sliced the skin off one finger. i don't mean just one layer i mean all the layers of skin.it was probably the size of a dime. not completely off still hanging on at the top of it. he went to the bathroom to deal with it and i followed him in a few minutes laters. he was kinda picking at it and i didn't see any blood so i assumed it had cleaned it up.  he was pale so i asked him if he was alright. yes as long as i don't look at it he answered. so i asked him if he had put any triple antibiotic on it. nope was his answer he hadn't cleaned it yet. so i get the iodine stuff i use for cleaning wounds and pour it on. while doing this my ds is sliding to the floor. who would of thunk that  a guy that hunts and deals with the blood and guts would faint.
on another note 13 yo dd was sick with the stomach flu on thursday. so i went to wash the sheet on her bed.  it was a good thing as i don't think i had any other sheets to put on her bed. my dd had not one but eight fitted sheets on her bed. i asked hert  about it an she told me 15 yo dd  had made the bed.  they have to share a bed.  i asked 15 yo ddd if she was going to put all the sheets back on their bed. (well all but one i took it because it was one of my sheets that i had been looking for). she said yes that was the only way the sheets stay on the bed.

Oct. 7, 2008 - random thoughts

it's been a long time since i posted last. i just plain forget to do this. i've never made it a habit. i need to do better. that said on to my random thoughts. i was told you need to take sides. not sure i totally agree. i need to take sides when it comes to choosing to serve God and believing in his saving grace. but i'm not so sure when it comes to taking sides between people that i always need to. flashback 19 years and we had a situation between a daughter and son. accusations were made. i didn't know and still to this day don't know the truth. so was  i suppose to pick one over the other to believe. both are my flesh and blood. i loved them both and still do. all i knew was someone was lying and the other wasn't. i suppose the truth could of been somewhere between. all i know is i loved them both and didn't want to believe either one was lying. i know it's hard to take a side if you don't know the truth. this last three months we had another situation much like that one. this time it was my dd's family going though it. even with hindsight i couldn't find the truth. everyone questioned and still no clear answer to the truth. i couldn't take sides just support both to the best of my ability. my prayer was that God be glorified and his will be done. has that happened yes i think so my dd and sil are back n church and trying to serve him. hmm looking back at this i think i did take a side. God's side by supporting and loving all invovled.

Nov. 15, 2007 - been a while since i posted

dh is back to work. he got to go back to work the 5th of oct.  we have most of our winter wood in. in october not much new. my nephew died not sure of what but they think heart attack. i baby sat him and his sister when they were little. we replaced the rabbit funny thing is he was my mom's and he was called charlie just like the one we had. i don't have a turkey yet but i do have some chickens now. maybe i already said that earlier. dh made me a chicken house/coop whatever you want to call it. i  have 6 right now . i know two are hens and and three are roosters still haven't  figured out  what the other one is kids think another hen  i hope so. been getting  one egg every other day  only one hen big enough right now another month or two and i'll have another  that should start laying. and a couple of months after that if the one the kids think is a hen  is a hen it should start laying. i want no more little ones till this spring.this month has been pretty much the same other than yesterday on wed the 14 i went over to my moms and a sister and i  help my mom go though stuff in the basement to get it ready for thanksgiving and christmas. it was 6 years ago on that day my dad died i went back over today it was my mom's birthday. i guess there was other stuff this month concerning my fil. i'll have to post it later.

Sep. 27, 2007 - everything is the same

at least pretty much so. dh is still off work. i can't seem to get a routine going with him off.. i liked my routine and there really isn't a good reason why i can't get another going. i will say dh is enjoying his time off and for the most part so have i. most of the winter's wood is up and he cleaned a fence line he has been wanting to clean for years. of course cleaning the fence line meant the out house went bye bye. it really wasn't set up to use as one but it could of been years ago. i keep telling dh i want a useable outhouse set up. i really don't care if anyone actually uses it. i just want one. though i know some of the kids would just for the fact they don't have to come to the house. he's getting ready to start on a chicken house for me. i only have four chickens right now. i do hope to have more next year. i'd like to be able to get a dozen eggs a day. since i plan on free ranging them except at night i won't have to buy much feed. i'm to the point i want a milk cow. i really don't think that one will happen.

Sep. 17, 2007 - now we know

that dh won't be going back to work till after his next orthopedic dr appointment on oct 4.   he is starting to get just a bit concerned about the money part.  normally i'm the one that worries more about the money part. so far though it isn't bothering me much. the kids will pay for the gas to get them back and forth to work. and i have plenty of food for the most part to last a month. mostl;y will just have to buy stapls like milk and eggs. i did the angel food packages for september. got 8 of them so should have more than enough meat for  the month. we have been very impressed with it so far.  this will be the first year we've had to buy coats for the kids. the boys will probably buy their own so that just leaves the two youngest girls. i plan on having dh take me to a thrift store on friday to start looking. .

Sep. 13, 2007 - i got new steps

thats about the most exciting thing that has happen lately, since dh still isn't back to work he got that project done. it's one of those one of these days we'd  like to do type projects. the last week or so it became a need to do project our metal steps had sunk some what in the middle and had a raw edge. it's a wonder i hadn't  cut my foot on the edge since i seem to spend most of my time barefooted. dh  decided wed morning he wanted to do it. suprising all of us he asked my dd's fiance how much material it would take and even let  him help build it. now i have a nice 4'x4' platform and three 11" steps.

Sep. 9, 2007 - in memory of georgia

i was really attached to her. seems strange to be attached to a sorta wild turkey. georgia though was something else.  she was  brought to our place cause someone seen her almost get  hit by a car. she had a messed up leg and didn't move fast. we put her across the creek. she came back across and ate with the cats.   we could actually walk up to  her and she would allow us to pet her or ruffle her feathers.  if the kids weren't around she would come up to the house and turkey talk tll someone went out and talked with her. i went out and talked with her a lot. she always ansered back. she supervised didn't matter what you were doing she was there . she sat and watched till you were done. a constant companion when you were out.  family night dinners she was there being a part of whatever was going on. over the years she got fat  i mean really fat  one of her favorite places to sleep was in my flower bed. last summer on a hot day she went into dh's shop and sat down in front of the fan. last winter when it got really cold she  got into the dog house  with all the cats not really all that suprising since she seem to think she was a cat. you called kitty kitty and she would come a running. she wil be sadly missed.

Sep. 4, 2007 - dogs again

we had one night when  it appears like  dogs left us alone.  this morning though they were back. the boys found one dead cat and a badly hurt wild turkey that has adp[teed us. her back looks so bad. maybe in the daylight it won't look quite as bad but somehow i doubt it.  she really isn't wild anymore i can pick her up  but she weighs probably 30 lbs. all of us can go up to her and pet her. anyone doing a job outside  she is there supervising. because she is a wild turkey we've just let her run wild at least as much as she wants. anymore  though i think she believs she is one of the cats.

Sep. 1, 2007 - some things are just better if they are never repeated

there is a reson we keep our dogs chained or penned up.  i admit at times when i don't want to go out i have let our two small house dogs out to run. they have started wandering so i am going to make every effort to stat chaining them up for the time they are out. our dogs have broke loose at times from their chains most gerenally  they stay around the house and don't wander. my dd has been having problems with a bunch of dogs running in a pack at night. we went though this jus three years or so ago at that time the dogs got our goat that was chained up. we moved it every few days to get fresh grass. not only did they get our goat but they killed several of our cats. so now we are going though this again. they had been getting a chicken a night at my dd's. last night they found us. we went to a family reunion about 3 years ago on the way home we brought a pretty red bunny rabbit. we .  made a 2 ft by 6 ft rabbit cage and divided in half.. we had thought we might one of these days get another rabbit. we hadn't. a couple of months ago dd gave me two chicks. so  that other half of the rabbit cage became their home. yesterday dd since she was having dogs killing her chickens gave me two more chicks.i divided the chicken half of the cage in half again for the little chicks. last night the dogs tore through the bottomand endside of the rabbit part and killed our rabbit and somehow managed to kill one of the small chilcks though the bottom of that side. we have no animal control or leash laws.  these aren't even wild dogs they are someone's pet.  do we want  money to replace the animals no we want the owners to keep their dog/s up.

Aug. 29, 2007 - family night dinner

is always on a wed and we love them. most of my kids  are generally here. i have one ds and his  family that can't make it very often. and today wa no exception. tonight was special it was a birthday dinner. tomorrow a ds turns 18. of course we'll still do a birthday dinner for him tomorrow. that the most celebrating we generally do. he kinda pick tonights dinner . he wanted small game but no one got in the freezer where that is kept so he ended up with a deer tenderloin that i cut into steaks and marinated in garlic and herb marinate and then grilled. added  baked potaotes and corn and chicken for those that didn't like deer. tomorrow he wants lagnsa. it seems likehe has grown up way too fast.

Aug. 28, 2007 - i'm happy with the math program i'm using

yes it's pricey but i really think it's workth the money. we're using teachingtextbooks math 7. one dd  finished last year.  one dd struggled with it  and we put aside after seeing she just couldn't do it.. the one that struggled with it last year is plugging though it again this year and so far doing great.  this year finding out each child could have their own gradebook i added  three grandchildtren to doing their math here. all of them doing the math 7. it's the right where my twin grandsons' needed to be. my oldesst granddaughter is doing it also. it is mostly  a catch anything she missed. i liked the math 7 so much i was going to buy the pre algebra for the dd that finished math 7. math is easy for this dd. so when my ds said he'd buy it for me i went to ordered it. somehow i ended up ordering te algebra 1. i was sure it was a mistake  but for her it wasn't she is doing just fine out of the book.  saving the lectures for when she needs it. now i'm sure for the younger dd i will have  o order the pre algebra but since i have grandkids the same age and younger it'll be fine.

Aug. 27, 2007 - another week

dh is still off and looks like for sure till after sept 6 thats when we could get an appointment to the othoopedic dr. sad to say dh was right he tore his rotator cuff, which means the regular dr won't release dh to work and it'll be up the the ortho dr  when dh can go back.. dh vacation pay will end this week.. hope dh can get some short term disability pay. on kinda the same note 15 yo dd didn't do any school work last week and her reason was dad was off and we never do school when dad is off. which is kinda true but usually dad is off because of a holiday or  a planned vacation 15  yo dd had a horse given to her. right now it is at my son in laws till we figure out what kind of fence we ar e putting up and where.

Aug. 24, 2007 - one thing for sure this week has been interesting

not  anymore more than a lot of weeks. never a dull moment around here. sunday 17 yo ds cut the palm of his hand with an arrow. two weeks ago on a sunday he cut his finger. i'm thinking i detect a pattern hoping that this pattern ends real soon. sunday afternon dh was out target practicing with 15 yo dd's bow  a 45 lb draw and injured his shoulder. he really thinks he's torn his rototor cuff. mon dh went to work and told his boss he wasn't sure if he would be able to work. he tried for an hour or so and was able but because of the type of work he does they wouldn't let him continue untill he had seen a dr.  dr doesn't think so but ordered an mri to be sure. we told the dr NOT to order it for thurs we already had non cancelable plans so guess what we got the appointment yep thursday. we had to call and reschelude for fri morning. the dr had dh take the week off work even though he said dh could work it would just be better to rest his shoulder.  we had already planned for dh to have thurs and fri as vacation days and we knew with the  advance 24 hours notice for taking vaction days we could do tues and wed. the boss bent the rules and let dh have monday as a vaction day also and tols dh he couldn't come back to work till he ahd a diagnois . wed we had family night dinner. the kids had been trying to convince me and dh to go out to dinner on our own but we enjoy wed night dinners with the kids and grandkids too much. we planned to go out thurs night instead. told the kids wouldn't be the first anniversary dinner we had to do on a different night. it's only been the last seven years *depending on what day it fell on* that we've really done anything for our anniversary anyways. thur we went to the appointment came home and then took off for dinner. this morning we went to get the mri done stopped by the drs office to see if they would call today and see if the results are in they won't. so that means dh will be home again with another vacation day. hopefully dh will be able to work tues. and none of these days include the normal taking kids to work, picking them up or the babysitting of grandkids. link to wedding  pic i have http://s191.photobucket.com/albums/z59/vimtzq/wedding/?action=view&current=75f64d26.pbw

Aug. 23, 2007 - every so often i need a reminder

and i got one today. it has been much to long since i have posted here. so  i'll kinda update now. june was busy we had a wedding my 21 yo dd got married . we did the rehersal dinner. i know that that is normally the groom's parents job but dd asked me and i figured it was the least we could do since she was paying for her own wedding. we also did the clean up after the dinner and the wedding. i'll see if i can't get the pic up here. i don't have many  but can share the ones i do have. well this will have to wait till i can figure out what is going on.  we had two birthdays both of them dgs's. i baby sat my dd's two female cats while she was on her honeymoon. yoda came down in heat and we couldn't keep her in the house. once she got out it was hours before she would show up . yoda is also the mean cat. jack we couldn't find in house for the first two or three days. then she   came into heat  we manage to keep her in for awhile  then she figured out  how to get out. so we were looking at possibly two litters. well somehow the one that spent the most time out  didn't have kittens but the other one did. she ended up with four. i was im'ing with my dd one day and she told me that jack was having her kittens and it was real strange yoda the one that spent the most time outside kept jumping in the box with jack. jack would get real upset if they took yoda out. so they ended up letting yoda stay  in i guess yoda ended up eating the afterbirth and making sure that jack took care of the kittens. hmm guess i'll have to finish updating later dh is waitin on me.

Feb. 12, 2007 - today is today

and it is nothing really different. well maybe a bit we didn't do school today. opting instead to clean house. got up this morning at 5 am and put dh's coffee on and  fixed his lunch. by 6:30 am  15 yo ds had  fixed his lunch  and left for the day. i noticed that again he left before eating breakfast. 13 yo dd went to one of her older sisters to watch 5 yo nephew while his mom took her boyfriend's son to school. by 7:40 am 17 yo ds packed his lunch and and i took him to work. he works at a local greenhouse and it's been good for him and me. we were driving each other nuts. he really does enjoy his job. he's got to work with landscaping and starting plants for the spring season. by 8 am i'm home  and dd is back home. she starts on cleaning a bathroom and hall while i do my walk away the pounds. i do a quick check of the boards i go to. pull out meat for tonights dinner. which brings another thought to mind i think dh is really enjoying me doing the weekly menus. mostly cause he can request something and know that he will get in sometime soon. i already have most of next week's done and starting on the week after. at 8:45 i leave again this time to take mil to work. she started working at the greenhouse again part time. got to admire her she is 80 years old and still enjoys working. home by 9 am  do some piddling stuff and by 9:30 dd is starting to work on the pantry kitchen. she is a good worker when she puts her mind to it. 7 of my dgk arrive.  i'll be babysitting them for about 4 hours. 12 yo dd decides to get up she is such a night owl. i really think she enjoys the quiet at night. i go to start the fire in dh shop, he really hates it when he gets home to a cold shop. it use to be the boys job and when them not here though the day  sometimes it doesn't get done. while i was out decided to get wood in the house. it was drizzly all  morning and i wanted some in before it got all wet. during the time i'm working on getting the wood in and getting dh's fire started oldest dgd was helping my dd clean the front  room and one of the twins was helping the other dd clean the frig. i fed the baby and out him down for a nap. the younger dgk are working on valentine cards for each other.  the noise level is much better than it was saturday night when i watched them. 12:30 the kids are getting lunch and in  a few minutes i'm taking 19 yo dd to work. she works at a local gas/convenience store. one of my older dd beats me home. she leaves shortly after i get there with her ds and the rest of the dgk. she'll watch them till their dad gets home. at 2:50 i'll leave yet again to get mil and bring her home. when i get back i start dinner and some no bake  granola bars. my 15 yo  ds will have no excuse not to eat breakfast he can eat these on the run. dh gets home at 4 pm and heads for his shop to do whatever it is he is doing . one of his on going projects is to reinvent the wheel. dh will pick 17 yo  ds from work at 6 pm  and when he gets home we eat dinner.  dinner is over the and the kitchen is clean. dh and ds will go pick up dd when she get off work.
