We found a Praying Mantis on the front porch and decided to turn the moment into a school moment, so we pulled out one of our insect books and read about what praying mantis' eat  and we discussed how they catch thier food, which we knew because we got the awesome experience before of sitting at our back door and watching one catch flies, but we went over that again. And did you know they wont eat dead bugs, but if you take a dead bug and tie it to a string and wiggle it in front of the mantis' face the mantis will attack it, cool huh. we really enjoyed it. My son wanted to hold it so I let him take a picture with it, but told him to be gentle and don't let it close to your eyes or it will spit in them. both sides did a great job, after pics the mantis returned home to his family. ;c) .
