My mom decided that I should do a leadership/service project for 8th grade graduation this year. I had to choose and organize a service project. I chose to volunteer to help a local pro-life pregnancy organization. I created invitations, recorded R.S.V.P. responses, and provided snacks for the people who gave their time to help me with the work at hand.
The organization we helped drops off baby bottles at churchs to be collected by members of the congregation. People fill their individual bottles at home with change over the period of a month, and bring them back to church. The organization then has volunteers empty the bottles and count the donated money . The bottles have labels and inserts. Our job was to clean out the bottles, place new inserts in each bottle and replace some labels. We also had to wash the dirty bottles. We completed nine cases or about 450 bottles.
Although it was tedious work we all had a good time hanging out and talking! Helping Others CAN be fun! |
