Sep. 20, 2008 - New year.
Well, we have started a new year and it is going great. I am so blessed to have finally found my niche and the boys'. If you have read, we adhere to the Charlotte Mason style and last year we started our curriculum being all CM. Well, this year we wanted to participate in a Co-op in which the boys have Science and Social Studies. Tyler my 12 yr old/7th grader is doing Apologia General Science and BJ World Studies. Tanner, my 11 yr old is doing 5th grade work they are doing Apologia Elem. Science Marine Biology and BJ Heritage Studies. I am very happy with how it is going.
We stuck with Math U See, Lang. Lessons for the..., and we have started Sequential Spelling for Tanner, Daily Grams for Tyler , and they are both doing Key to Fractions. Then literature is mainly for Tyler. Tanner still struggles with reading. Although, it is getting way better.
Also, I need to update y'all on Abby. She is the one I spoke of last time. She has been doing very good. Her breathing is way better. She is able to get out a lot more also. Mom is pretty busy with her but it is good that they actually stay busy and keep Abby healthy. We still do our co-op with her. We do art every Monday am. She just loves it.
So, now, my biggest thing we are working on now is Tanner's report he has to somehow give this week. He doesn't even understand the concept of an oral report. With his speech dis. I am very worried about how he will do. He gets VERY self conscious about his speech skills when he has to talk to anyone or sing in church much less give a report. He can't even really read his pages to help him. I think I just need to allow him to do his pages where he has to fill in the report info. but then take him away to the beach this week. God has worked that out for us anyway so it may be for a reason. I don't want it to seem like I am getting him out of this, but he doesn't even understand what he is to do. I don't want him being laughed at. I know what he understands about his country but with him having to give this report to the class and share all the details about it in sentences, then I am worried what will come out of that. I just pray it will work out. I know it will and I am not a worrier really but my youngest boy is my bigges concern usuallly and it breaks my heart to think of what he struggles with.
Thank you all!!
Be victoriously strong!~Mindy
