BOOK REVIEW: The Case for Christ by Lee Strobel
I am having a hard time rating this book because I can honestly see this book having merit and value for someone who is sitting on the fence and wants proof that Christ is real however, for someone like myself who had already heard most of these arguments, this book was rather dull. That is not to say that I didn’t learn anything but to me it was irrelevant because I am already convinced that Jesus is who He says He is and I didn’t need proof. In truth, I wanted to quit reading this book but in G-d’s perfect and unbelievable timing I was grateful that I trudged forward because on Good Friday, the day we remember His suffering and persecution, I was reading the chapters in this book that explained the medical and physical evidence of His beatings and how He suffered… for me. I was amazed to learn that there is an actual condition of extreme stress that causes the (human) body to actually sweat blood and that doing this actually makes the skin even more sensitive to the blows He would take in the coming hours. Oh how ashamed and sorrowful and full of humility I felt to be reading this. I am even more in awe that He would lovingly show me this on such a sober day to appreciate this day even more deeply. How He suffered, what He was put through and how much blood He shed for me, I can only weep more at my sinful ways and ask for forgiveness. I will be keeping this book for my kiddos to read at a later point in their walk because they too may need to experience the evidence however, this book does provide a means of what to say to the skeptic if you are at a loss of how to answer the tough questions.
MY REVIEW: Boring if you already study the Word in depth
