We FINALLY got a glimpse of our baby. My ticker above reflects my due date based on lmp (7 wks 5-6 days). However, my cycle is usually much longer than the average bear's, so my due date is probably going to be much later. The baby measured closer to 6 weeks along. We did get to see a tiny flicker that looked consistent enough to be the heartbeat!!! That was really great! The tricky part is that they need to be as precise as possible in determining my due date, because they will be doing a scheduled C-section at between 36 and 37 weeks along. This is usually early for scheduling a C-section, but they don't want me to even begin to go into labor. The fact that I have had another abruption isn't the concern. They actually gave me a 1 in 5,000 chance of that happening again PTL!!!. The cautions are in place because of the classical section I had from the abruption. He fears that my uterine incision was classical as well which triples my risk of a uterine rupture should I begin to contract. With my last two, I have had my water break at 36-37 weeks. When my water breaks, I start contracting immediately.
All in all, it was a fine appointment. The things that baffle me (and that I didn't have to worry about with my wonderful midwife) were just the redundancies and time wasters they go through. ARGH!!! They had me sit and fill out a six page history where I indicated every bug bite anyone in my family had ever had (I understand the need for this), but then they had me sit with a nurse in a conference room while she took the SAME FORM (only blank) and filled it in herself!!!! Diane, my midwife in GA, would have never gone through that. She would have just thrown the second sheet away and that would have been that. There were SO many women there and it did feel sort of like an assembly line of prenatal care. I am still praying about what to do regarding this babies care.
The Dr. didn't give us any pictures this time and he scheduled another u/s for September 6th. It seems like so far away, but I know that the pictures then will be so much clearer and we will actually be able to see our peanut. Thank you all for your sweet comments and support.
Take care!
