July 5, 2008 - In the shadow...
Keep me as the Apple of your Eye, Hide me in the Shadow of your Wings. Psalm 17:8
This has been such an important verse to me and my family for the last few months. We have truly been walking "through the fire" in so many areas of our lives. Through it all, however, we have had constant reminders that the Lord is keeping us firmly in the shadow of His wings. He is upholding us and teaching us in the midst of the storm as He has always promised to do.
We have settled into our new "temporary" home in the hopes to be in a much more permanent place within the next two months. The changes have been hard on my little ones, but they are resilient and they have also seen God's mighty hands working in our lives. I know they will come out stronger and more determined as a result of our current circumstances.
We have settled on homeschooling both children, as I always knew in my heart that we would. We began some last year, but with all the changes and distractions we were not as diligent as I would have liked to be. We will be beginning again on August 1, however we are working on math and phonics/reading throughout the summer with my little guy to keep him on a good schedule. I am excited at his progress and I am so proud of his ability to cope with all that is going on around all of us.
My little princess has had some behavioral issues lately, I am sure a result of the stresses she has endured, but she is slowly coming back to her usual rowdy, princess-like divaness. She is also eager to do "schoolwork" so we have decided to go ahead and do similar work with her as well. She is really quick to catch on and might very well pass her big brother before long. We will have to tread lightly if that happens... we don't want any hurt feelings.
I have gotten back to writing and reading.. I have actually been reviewing books for Chrisitan Fiction Blog Alliance on a different blog, but I have decided to move that here, so I will be reviewing books on this blog soon as well. My sweet hubby is working so hard all the time, I do hope that he can take it much easier in the weeks and months to come, but for now he is doing what he must do.
That's about it for this update. Thanks so much for all the encouraging emails and prayers that you all have been sending our way. We are truly blessed to have such wonderful friends and family to surround us and uphold us during our trials. We know that God will allow us to return the blessings to you in His timing. Until next time.....
