Hello! I'm the Croc Toria.....I used to have cousins who lived in Alaska! How do you like it there? I've always wanted to go there....well, I play piano and we use Alfred's Easy Piano Library or something like that. My brother uses a different one, but it's really hard. I've only used Alfred's and it works pretty good. Hope this helps!
God Bless,
Toria

Here is a website: http://www.pianoforlife.com/ that is a very good one...since you can watch it and hear it. It teaches the basics...which is always a good foundation and makes it easier to go on to harder things. All of you could use it.
You have a sweet blog. We are from TN and have talked many times about making a visit to Alaska...maybe someday.

Mrs. Fleming

Stuff by James Bastien or anything from Dramatic Differences Publications.
I don't know how to find James Bastien's stuff online short of googling him, but I can give you the website for Dramatic Differences Publications.
www.dramaticdifference.com
I've used things from both, and they're both pretty easy. You can look and decide for your self though.
Hope this helps!
Blessings,
Liz

Hmm...I was taught using Bastien and Faber. I don't think there is anything complicated about them.
Funny thing is...I met this piano tuner/pianist who taught lessons for 40 years and he gave me a lesson, beginning, "Everything in those piano books is wrong...people write piano books just to make money." Haha!

Thanks for the comment!
I have to agree with Jordan's recommendation. There are six levels to Alfred's Basic Piano Library, when you use the course that I'm using. (There are different types of courses and such in that collection of books.) It's really easy to use. You can go all out and include sight reading, etc., etc., or you can just go with music theory and the two main music books.
Hope that helps!
Hugs,
Becca

I have taught myself everything that I know. To start out though, I began with a book called "Teach Yourself To Play Piano". It starts out very basic so that even someone with no music experience can learn. It is published by Alfred Publishing Co.
I hope that helps!

In my 6 years of piano lessons I've used about 5 different curriculums. Out of all that, I would have to recommend my little sister's. ;-) She used the 'Piano Adventures' curriculum by Nancy and Randall Faber, publisher The F.J.H. Music Company INC. She made leaps and bounds with this and my youngest sister learned wonderfully with it as well. You can visit the website at: http://www.pianoadventures.com. :-)
I hope I've been of some help!
