Oct. 26, 2007 - Happy Birthday!
Today is Amanda's birthday! Happy Birthday Amanda!
I know this isn't the bestest birthday post ever, but at least i did it, right?
Me and her go back about a year and a half. At first we didn't get along, mostly because I had a judgemental attitude about her Superman background. But then I watched Superman Returns and was totally lost, so I asked her if she could fill me in on the rest of the story. She did, and then a friendship began to bloom. After that I realized she was a sweet, Godly, young lady who had a heart for the Lord as well as the cost it takes to serve Him.
Happy Birthday Amanda!!

Yes, my parents and I were rather uncertain about the Superman EVERYWHERE, but I think if you take the time, it's clear that she is focused on Christ, even if Superman is a "passion" of sorts. ;-)
Well done!
Much love,
Melanie

My parents had to read some of Hawthorne's and Shakespere's books in highschool and they weren't very good (Or appropriate in some cases). (We know some of Shakespere's things are fine. I don't know about Hawthorne's stuff, though.)
I don't have a problem with this esp. as I have chosen to only read books that are non-fiction, or parable type books (i.e. Pilgrim's Progress, The Holy War, etc.)(I haven't found too many parable books but I hope to find more over time!) and of course books like If by Amy Carmichael, Union and Communion by Hudson Taylor, My Utmost for His Highest by Oswald Chambers, The letters of Samuel Rutherford by Samuel Rutherford are really good ones too!
I don't have a problem with people who read fiction though, either. (The rest of my family does, btw.)
I'll be checking into the A Passage to India book you mentioned.
Sorry this got so long!

Hello Alycia,
That was sweet of you to do a post for Amanda's Birthday.
I was reading your previous post, Your booklists, and you have some very good books on there. (Uncle Tom's Cabin is so sad!)
By the way, I love your template.
Love to hear from you,
Rebekah Rose
