Jul. 2, 2007 - A House for Hermit Crab
Started out our fun, again, with Elijah's friend, Gabriel. We made ocean dioramas complete with real sand and shells. We used blue paint and ocean life cut-outs from magazines on the back. We covered the fronts with plastic wrap. It took a long time to make these, but they were fun for the boys. They also learned about the animals in the story (coral, anemone, laternfish, hermit crab, etc.) and made popsicle stick puppets.
We read lots of great books about ocean life (Elijah is simply fascinated with what God made that lives in the water), animal homes, & people homes (we loved A House is a House for Me by Mary Anne Hoberman).
We kind of threw a lapbook together. I was in the process of making some templates as we went. I'm learning that it's okay if it looks like a five year old did it because a five year old did it!

The lapbook is adorable! You have inspired me to make one too. My children will love it. They too are fascinated with all God has created including the ocean and such! So beautiful! Great job!
