"To live is so startling it leaves little time for anything else."
Hey everyone,
Here’s how my week has been going. I know this is unusual for me to write about my own life for a change but I think I’ll do fine (if not let me know ha-ha).
Sunday, we all went to church as normal and I got to Sunday school for a change. I think I woke up at 5:00 am but that’s a long story. Anyway, my mom, my brother, and I went to evening service which is very unusual because usually my whole family will go. But as you read on God has surprises – BIG surprises. Mom got a call from dad during church and she tried calling him back but he didn’t answer. We called like a total of 15 times. We drove home a little worried but we were sure everything was just fine. Then we pulled into the garage and guess what!?! My grandfather was here!! And we didn’t even clean the house for him. It was such a mess with finishing school, starting yard work, messy house, you get the picture. We hadn’t seen him for 3 years and now he’s staying with us for a week. That is so great!!! Please pray for my grandfather and our family because he is not a believer. It can be really hard at times.
On Monday I cleaned the house a bit (the whole downstairs and bedrooms) since my grandfather had to come when the house was the worse. Also my brother was fixing the heater and air conditioner in our house but he couldn’t back to one of the dampers because the opening is really small. We all tested who could fit in the opening best. You have to be really skinny but long enough to reach the damper. So who got the job, well me of course!! I got out after many tries - who knew I didn’t know how to work a socket. Let’s just say I was VERY sore (even have a bruise) after that and I got some fiberglass in my skin. But now I have heat in the winter and cold air in the summer in my bedroom. It used to be the other way around.
Tuesday, I cleaned our freezer because the motor was burning and producing mold. It was very gross looking! We were able to shut it down so it would stop burning but that took forever. Then I got attacked by our cat because my sister hadn’t fed her yet. She bit and clawed my leg and its not very nice looking. We also went to two museums but they weren’t what I fully expected (thankfully they were free). It nice though to be out of the 90 degree weather *ugh.*
On Friday I'm going to an Apologetix concert with my brothers and my friends. I'll write about that later...
That’s how my week has been and I’m to sure what I’ll be doing the rest of the week but. Hopefully we’ll get to go to the beach and cool off. I had fun writing about my life for once and I’ll try to do this more often.

Christmas Time......
Hello Everyone-
Well, you certainly can see that Christmas is just around the corner….or for some of you reading this it may be pass Christmas, (laughing).
It has been really busy here but in a different way than most people would think. This entry is going to tell you how I and my family celebrate Christmas and here is how….First to let you know, I and my family do not at all have a Christmas tree/trees. We do not decorate our house or landscape. We do not give gifts, etc. Starting the day after Thanksgiving or a few days after that (laughing), our family will start by reading the Gospels each morning until Christmas Day. We have a tradition to read this series of Christmas books, which are excellent, starting Advent Sunday. We also will rehearse and memorize verses from the Bible every morning until Christmas Day. This is because every year since we were toddlers, our parents put together a Christmas Play and us, the children, take different roles in the play. We always switch parts every year except for everyone who says with their original parts. Such as: me as Elizabeth, my older brother Gabriel the angel, and my very oldest brother as Herod.
This play takes all month to rehearse, memorize, prepare props, and sew costumes. On Christmas Day is when we do the final performance of our play. We only do this play with our family but we do record and take pictures to give to relatives. It takes usually from 9:00 in the morning, till 4:00 in the evening to do the whole play, including lunch and breaks. After we are all done we have a Christmas dinner and sing Christmas hymns.
Thank you all for reading how I and my family celebrate Christmas together. If you at all feel offended please don’t. I don’t think giving gifts, decorating trees, and more is wrong. I just believe that this is the way God has chosen our family to celebrate Christmas. There is one thing I do believe is very wrong though, I believe when people think that Santa gave the gifts is a lie to this world. I hope many of you agree with me on this issue. Thanks again for listening to my ramblings.
We have received God's grace through the Person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. Now we need to be open to receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit, "But eagerly desire the greater gifts" 1 Corinthians 12:31
A Gift for Christmas- The box that it is in is sturdy and strong, no wind, rain, storms, fire or hazard can harm it. It is wrapped in the lovely paper of promises. Around the wrapping is a ribbon of grace and a bow of mercy. Inside of the box is a gift designed just for you. It is the most wonderful and important gift you will ever receive. This gift is just for you, but in order to have what is inside you have to accept the gift. You have to open you hands, receive the gift and open it up. You have to acknowledge that this is for you and you are taking ownership of it. As you open this box you will see the face of God in the form of a baby that was sent to earth, God in form of man being born as a baby. Christmas is the time celebrated of His birth. He was born of a virgin, Mary whom God chose to carry this child. His life's purpose was to share God's love with all he came in contact with. He told of God's love and will for each and every one of us. He was to die, taking every and hardship and pain known to mankind on himself. He felt every single discomfort and pain for us. He prepared a place for us to go after our , everlasting life in paradise with Him. God loved us so much he was willing to send His own son to die for our sins. We are born with a sin nature and no one can change that until he or she opens the box, that lovely wrapped box with the gift inside of it. The gift of God who wants you to draw to Him, surrendering yourself to Him. OPEN your box I send to you and accept your gift of love, peace and eternal life. Receive the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the promises He has made to you. Stand strong as the box which is sturdy and will withhold life's storms. Accept that God sent His son for you, gift wrapped with the Holy Spirit and the wonders of His Love. And thank Him with all your heart for giving you such a wondrous gift!!!!
Have a wonderfully blessed Christmas and New Year!!!
Love, Miss Elizabeth
P.S. If you would like the name of the books we read please feel free to ask.... |

Family Movies
Hey Guys,
I thought this was a pretty cool idea. Hope you all are able to use it in your family.
Walking In His Steps, Elizabeth
There are various ways to evaluate movies: tracing the growth of the main character, picking out the theme or themes, critiquing the cinematography or judging the quality of the acting. However, when it comes to understanding and engaging the culture, the best approach is to discern the key worldview issue being displayed. This is done by asking a series of three questions:
1. What is the key worldview question being addressed? (Is God real and what is God like?, What is the origin of life?, etc.)
2. How is this question answered?
3. How does the answer given in the movie compare with a biblical worldview?
Once you have chosen a movie to watch with your family, take time afterward to answer these questions together and discuss the worldview portrayed in the film. You may just be surprised how much can be packed into a two-hour film!
