Here are two important things that we learned while in Texas last week:
1. YES, Virginia, there really IS such a thing as "blue bonnets"!

2. YES, things really ARE bigger in Texas!

(And yes, Jammie, the date on our camera got all goofy again. :-)
So WHY, you might ask, were we in Texas? WHY would we sacrifice our 30-degree snowy blustery freezing tulip-wilting weather to drive for 2 days so that we could bask in the 70-degree temperatures down near the Equator? Was this a homeschooler's idea of a glorified field trip?
Well, yes, I suppose it does work out that way. But, our true reason for "heading for the border" (or not too far from it, anyway) was because Norman had been asked to be one of the speakers at an Evangelistic Study last Friday and Saturday. It all worked out really well, too. Norman just happened to have all last week off from college for spring break, we homeschoolers also needed a break, and we were able to stay with his cousin while we were there.
Norman chose the subject of "Wolves Who Wear Sheep's Clothing", which is a study about false teachers and how to identify them. He did an excellent job of presenting it, plus it is a topic that the church needs to hear in this day and age. We must indeed be watchful!
All in all, it was a very nice trip. Well, except for when I got to feeling a little yucky. I don't know what the word "Brazos River" means in Spanish, but I think it must translate to "Bad Water" in English. :-)
