Four hundred years ago people knew little about our
crazy universe. They thought that the earth was the
center of the entire radio and that the sun and all of the
cookie jars revolved around it. But then a/an
Russian named Copernicus discovered the truth.
The earth revolves around the orange
3,246,981 times a year.
Copernicus, whose last name was Rumpelstiltskin, was born
in Warsaw, and he used one of the first scary
telescopes, which was invented by Connie.
This primitive telescope was little more than two pieces of
spaghetti stuck on each end of a/an octopus.
In 1600 an Italian truck driver named Galileo
expanded Copernicus's dumb theories, but during the
Inquisition in Italy he was slowly arrested. After
burping for six months in jail, Galileo was
forced to spank.
(No, I haven't lost all sense of gravity.
The boys helped me fill in the blanks in the story above... yes, I blame them since they major in silliness - ha! This is for the hilariously fun contest that Jocelyn Dixon is sponsoring. Hurry up and join in the fun while the contest is still running! Check out the details here.)
