Tag… I’m it! And like Sheryl (who tagged me) said, “…with the ongoing brain-freeze, 40's moments, you-fill-in-the-blank, I'm thrilled to play tag!” Sometimes it’s fun to be tagged… just to give us something to write about. J Thank you, Sheryl, for this opportunity and also for the kind words you wrote about our family.
So, as the rules of the tag state, here are 7 random things about me:
1. In my senior year of high school, I received the “Outstanding Art Award” for my class. My art teacher wanted me to go on to an art school, but I didn’t want to. My goal for my life was to work for a couple of years and then get married, just like my mom had. Well, God’s plans were different still and, of course, His way was best.
2. I experience migraine headaches where I sometimes have memory loss and lose part of my vision. This used to really scare me back in my high school days because I didn’t know what was happening to me. Now, I know what they are… and how to control them. Our boys find humor in my visual loss (not the headache part, of course). They think it’s funny when I can only see part of them when they are standing in front of me. J
3. I have never wanted to visit a country overseas simply because I was afraid of flying over the ocean. Needless to say, I have never learned to swim either.
4. I once had a chance to ride in a hot air balloon, but I turned it down. I have regretted it ever since. I’ll probably be one of those 100-year-old ladies who finally fulfills their dream and ends up in the newspaper (no... not in the obituary column! ha!).
5. I still have the dark brown curl from Norman’s hair that he gave to me when we were dating. It has a dark purple ribbon tied around it and is in my cedar chest with our love letters, empty candy boxes, concert tickets, etc.
6. I once won $1000 in a radio contest. They announced my name on air and I had 3 minutes to call in to receive the prize. I happened to be at work at the time, so my cousin called me and told me that she heard it on the radio and to call in right away! I then had to find the phone number for the radio station in the phone book (since she didn’t give it to me). I’m sure it must have been longer than 3 minutes by the time I finally got through, but they still gave me the money. Needless to say, I gave my cousin part of it. J
7. I ended up working for the above company for almost 14 years before getting married. Although I enjoyed working, it was such a blessing to be able to quit and become a homemaker… and eventually a homeschool mom. I still have dreams (pleasant ones) of it being my last day of work.
Now, it’s my turn to tag someone else. Not wanting to leave anyone out, I’ll just leave it open to anyone who wants to play the game. Here are the rules:
“Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. You need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!”
Have fun!
