Our 8-year-old son tuned our radio into a local station playing the golden oldies. I didn't mind since I prefer these songs to what modern music has to offer today. For example, they just got through playing a 1959 hit by Ricky Nelson called "Never Be Anyone Else". This is one of my favorites! It's so enjoyable to listen to and the words have such good meaning.
When the song was over, the DJ came on and said, "Rock 'n Roll never sounded so good!"
Both of our boys laughed. They have been exposed to modern Rock 'n Roll, so I explained that songs considered as Rock 'n Roll in the olden days are much different and milder than what is played nowadays.
Well, our 8-year-old seemed to have a difference of opinion. "That's not Rock 'n Roll! That's 'romantic tragedy'!"
Okay, maybe we've been studying too much Shakespeare lately! J
