... embroider tea towels! :-)
Our 8-year-old gets bored easily and is always needing something to keep him occupied. He came to me a couple of weeks ago and asked if he could sew something. Since I had just bought some new dish towels, I told him that he could embroider on one of them if he wanted. He got really excited about this!
Here is the pattern his dad drew for him:
I traced it onto his tea towel, explained the different stitches that he would need, got him started, and off he went! He is really enjoying this project and it is looking very nice! Plus... he is looking forward to the day when he can use his very own custom-made towel to dry dishes with. Really! He loves drying dishes!
So, not only is he a "real man", he's also going to make a handy-dandy husband for a very happy young lady when he grows up. ;-)
