Pam at blessedwith2angels (aka "hip2schoolathome") tagged me with the "7 Random Things" tag. I had already been tagged with this one before and blogged about it here, but I figured that I could easily come up with 7 more things about me that might prove to be interesting. Well... this just didn't happen. I really couldn't think of anything that was new and exciting. Hmmm... that means that I am either forgetful or else I need to change my personality to Type A. Anyway, here are 7 random things about me (hey... stop that yawning!):
1. My dad has always called me the "8-0-5 Special" since I was born on August 5 at 8:05 and weighed 8 lbs. 5 oz. I was also "born again" (baptized for the remission of my sins) on my birthday when I turned 12. And to top it off, I found out later that my husband was also born at 8:05!
2. In my senior year of high school, I received the "Outstanding Art Award" for my class. My art teacher wanted me to go on to an art school, but I didn’t want to. My goal for my life was to work for a couple of years and then get married, just like my mom had. Well, God’s plans were different still and, of course, His way was best.
3. I experience migraine headaches where I sometimes have memory loss and lose part of my vision. This used to really scare me back in my high school days because I didn’t know what was happening to me. Now, I know what they are… and how to control them. Our boys find humor in my visual loss (not the headache part, of course). They think it’s funny when I can only see part of them when they are standing in front of me.
4. I once had a chance to ride in a hot air balloon, but I turned it down. I have regretted it ever since. I’ll probably be one of those 100-year-old ladies who finally fulfills their dream and ends up in the newspaper (no... not in the obituary column! ha!).
5. I once won $1000 in a radio contest. They announced my name on air and I had 3 minutes to call in to receive the prize. I happened to be at work at the time, so my cousin (Thanks, Teresa!) called me and told me that she heard it on the radio and to call in right away! I then had to find the phone number for the radio station in the phone book. I’m sure it must have been longer than 3 minutes by the time I finally got through, but they still gave me the money. Needless to say, I gave my cousin part of it (in the form of a gift certificate).
6. I ended up working for the same company for almost 14 years before getting married. Although I enjoyed working, it was such a blessing to be able to quit and become a homemaker… and eventually a homeschool mom. I still have dreams (pleasant ones) of it being my last day of work. Yippee!
7. I have had 6 miscarriages, 4 before our first-born son and 2 after. I don't wear this badge as a prideful thing or to appear courageous. I merely bring this up as a way of bringing special meaning to this verse in Psalm 113:9...
"He maketh the barren woman to keep house, and to be a joyful mother of children. Praise ye the Lord."
God is good and greatly to be praised! I'm reminded of this daily as I look at my 2 precious gifts that He has blessed me with.
Now, it’s my turn to tag someone else. Not wanting to leave anyone out, I’ll just leave it open to anyone who wants to play the game. Here are the rules:
"Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. You need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!"

We have been watching "Are you smarter than a 5th grader?" because my son (in 5th grade) wants to see if he knows the answers. He is still amazed about the contestant who thought France was not a country, but Europe was.
