Thanks to everyone who has encouraged us with Bible verses, kind words and prayers! We are still waiting on the Lord to provide Norman with a job, but He has renewed our strength day by day.
It's so easy to get to worrying and wondering about what will happen or where will we go when we run out of money. I have even found myself thinking, "Surely God can see how much money we have left in our savings account. He knows. But, how is He ever going to work this out?"
That's when God brings specific Bible verses to my mind. One particular verse jumped out at me one day when we were doing our Bible reading during our homeschool. It was in the 11th chapter in the book of Numbers. The Israelites were complaining (again!) about eating manna day after day and were longing for the good food that they had eaten back in Egypt. Moses intervened for the people and discussed the matter with the Lord. God told Moses that He would give them so much "flesh" (meat) that the people would be sick of it. Well, now it was Moses' turn to question the Lord because he just couldn't see how He could possibly feed so many people. That's when God answered, "Is the Lord's hand waxed short? Thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not." (verse 23)
I love that!
Other translations put it this way:
"Is the Lord's arm too short?" (New International)
"When did I become weak?" (Living Bible)
"Is the Lord's power limited?" (New Revised Standard)
God was reminding Moses of His running record. Not only was Moses aware of God's mighty strength and power, but he had even experienced it during his lifetime. Moses was there when God brought the 10 plagues upon the Egyptians and delivered the Israelites from their slavery. Had God changed since then? NO!
I could sense that God was speaking to me through this Biblical account. God has not changed since then, even. We have all kinds of accounts from the Bible and evidences from today that show God's strength and power. Also, He has proven Himself over and over again to me... in my lifetime.
One experience actually happened not too long ago... when Norman lost his job, due to the company relocating. Since I have it all recorded on this blogsite, I went back and read these posts again:
"Of Sickness, Severance and Snow Ice Cream"
"The Ball is Rolling..."
"The Ball is Rolling (Part 2)..."
"The Ball is Rolling (Part 3)..."
"We are Moving!"
"Settlin' In"
It was all there... in green and white. J As I read through each of the posts, I was reminded of how God had worked it all out. And, the timing was perfect! Norman was able to get a wonderful severance package, go back to school and get two more degrees, plus we were able to sell our house and move closer to the church into a house that exactly met our needs! This was very encouraging to me! I could see how God did it before... and I know that He can do it again! He has not changed. He is still able.
So, I jokingly tell people that God might just end up waiting until we have only $2 left (like Poppa Dollar and Momma Dollar in "It's a Wonderful Life") before He provides Norman with a job. That's okay, though. I've seen Him work. And, like Moses was instructed to do, I'll just sit back and watch.

I love it when His Word speaks so clearly to us...when we REALL need it, for encouragement, rebuke, or a reminder. His Word is sufficient...
I will add your family to my daily prayers.
Thank you for being so open. This is one reason I blog...to be reminded of God's goodness and faithfulness to our family.
God bless you and your family during this time....
