We've found that our waiting is paying off. It's not that we've been trying to put this off... it's just the way things are working out.
First of all, the investment company never called on Monday like we had expected. So, thinking that maybe they had Monday off due to the MLK holiday, Norman waited until Tuesday afternoon and then gave them a call. They told him that they were now going to do internal interviews and that would take another week. Huh??? I thought companies usually did that first before advertising outside. They might just be making excuses, but we really can't wait on them.
Secondly, Norman went in Tuesday morning for his interview at the hospital. It went well, but it might take them awhile, too. Norman told them about our situation and they said that they would let him know for sure on Friday if he was in the top running. And then, next week, they will be interviewing the top runners again.
And, last but not least, Norman had told the office supply company that he would let them know on Wednesday what he decided. So, he went there this morning (Wednesday) and asked if they could possibly wait until Friday now, since we are still waiting to hear from the hospital. They said that was okay.
A little while after Norman got home, though, the office supply company called and they told him that they had decided to raise his starting pay by $1/hour. Wow! He hadn't even asked! They really want to hire him and told him that out of all the applicants, none came as close as he did, in maturity level. (Norman is just afraid that they might end up being disappointed - ha). Also, they mentioned that in a year's time, he might be able to take over the managerial position and get a much higher pay.
So, that's where we're at right now... waiting again! This time until Friday. But, hey, "good things come to those who wait"! J
